The room in the back is great if you're looking for something a bit more quiet and tucked away. Get tickets for beer & food at the entrance, or just go straight to the bar at the right for cocktails

Line up to buy tickets which you have to use at the beer and food bars. Then cash them in for large, salty and soft pretzels with spicy or wholegrain sweet mustard. For non-beer drinks, 1 cocktail bar

You have to buy tickets for each beer at the entrance. Tickets cost 8 bucks which is reasonable. Nice atmosphere for hanging with friends. But the pretzels are also a ticket (ie 8 bucks!) Ridiculous.

Beer is always amazing! Gets crowded, but can usually swoop up a seat for you & your crew within minutes. Fully enclosed with heat lamps (that work) all winter. Oh, and there's Ping pong, nuff said.

Best of all the main dishes is the grilled rainbow trout. The whole fish arrives grilled beautifully, butterflied and filleted, but with the head left on, so you can fork out the tiny cheeks. Read more

The Standard is known for its exclusive watering holes, so we were pleasantly surprised by the low key door policy here. This is a top spot for hanging out with the gang on a weekend afternoon. Read more · January 9, 2012

Incredibly crowded on summer evenings and weekends, but it can be nice on a weekday. The highline above acts like an echo chamber and it gets super noisy. And what's up with the tickets?

If you go and it's not completely flooded with people, it might seem weird the absence of music, but once full the place is all the fun you expect any summer afternoon in downtown Manhattan.

Great location, right underneath the highline. It pays homage to The roots with the wait staff dressed up & the German named cocktails & beers. Food is standard. Sadly The crowd has become douchey

Such a fun atmosphere. Only serve beer, so make sure that's okay with everyone you're with. A great place for a first date, laid back and fun, kind of like a grown up, classier frat party.

Such a great contradiction to the pretentiousness of The Standard Hotel. Such a great outside area for young people who just want to enjoy a good beer. I would absolutely go back.

Decent selection of German beers. Nice and loud like a proper Biergarten. Pretzels and sausages are also fantastic. Great place for happy hour but get there early! Young crowd.

The sparkling water is 4$ for a small glass of dispenser carbonated tap water, strong taste of chloride. Drink beer instead, probably brewed according to german purity standards :)

Absurdly crowded on any weekend night. Be prepared to wait in line for expensive drinks and an even larger cried inside. Only go if you're committed to going out for the night

If this is one of your stops on your Highline walk, there is a side-room full of cool part, It's air-conditioned with open doors and the douchbags don't go in there

The ticket system is efficient. But screws the staff on cash tips, I think. German beer selection: mediocre. But a cool place, a bit overcrowded & definitely a meat market. Ha!

Packed and overpriced. Not my favorite combo, but definitely a place to check out once. Skip the mojito and gimlet (bartenders don't seem to be great at making drinks)... go for the beer.

Standard Meatpacking crowd: very Bro, plenty of games, decent food, but the staff can treat you like the predictable crowd which I feel destroys any potential memorable charm.

Grab some tickets from the wooden booth as you enter ($8) then hit the bar on the left for light, white or dark beer. 2 tickets for a litre stein.

I had never felt under dressed in a beer garden until coming here. It's enormous and has a great indoor/outdoor vibe, but the crowd is distinctly meatpacking.

meh. expected more. 8$ for a beer they only fill 3/4 full. weak beer selection - only 4 different beers on tap. don't even have a decent Oktoberfest during the season.
