Step inside and experience an extraordinary piece of living history during your next visit to downtown Chicago at the Congress Plaza Hotel. This “Landmark of Chicago Hospitality” has delighted business and leisure travelers for over a century, and taken its place as a Midwestern point of interes...
Stopped in for a beer. Decent selection. Right on Michigan for my tourist purposes
Did you know this place is haunted? Well I'm not going to tell you the real answer in that. Going under renovations in different parts of the hotel. Room are huge, but run downs and feels plain.
Room 441 is notorious as the most haunted room in the hotel, bring a oujia board. The creepiest floor is the 12th in the north tower, back staircase by the sealed room is very scary to the roof.
This is, quite honestly, the worst hotel I've ever stayed in. I came back to my room one afternoon to find the door unlocked after housekeeping had made up the room and cash for a wedding gift stolen.
Feels a bit like Shining's Overlook Hotel. And it's definitely a great value for the price you pay! :-)
Listen to the reviews and avoid this hotel like a plague. Dirty and old! Gag!
The elevators are quite efficient.
Great value for a historic building in a convenient location. Public transit nearby along side amazing restaurants in walking distance.
Beware...of two rooms I've seen, neither had adjustable thermostats. Check the room out before unpacking & settling in.
Nice & affordable. Great view of lake MI. older rooms with old doors. Not very insulated for noise - making it hard to sleep.
Do not stay here! It reaks of mold and mildew. The rooms are crap, And have included a lovely picture of the linen closet opposite my room to emphasize this.
Awesome historical hotel built for the 1893 World's Fair & one of the largest hotels in the world during the 20th century. Rumors of hauntings & a rich history create a Stephen King like environment.
Stay was great. Sure it's got some issues. Makes it an adventure. Got upgraded without asking. Staff are friendly. Paid more for less. Have had worse.
This hotel is extremely old. You can't even control the A/C or heat. Hard mattress. Wouldn't stay here again.
Smells funny but really well located near Grant Park. Tons of outlets (and also ghosts).
Don't get drinks/food from the bar, they serve u drinks in plastic cups even if ur sitting there to eat or drink. #Horrible
It's garbage can... Need completely remodeling😱
Most haunted hotel in Chicago, room 907 is a good one no activity
Location is awesome. Tricky getting the heat adjusted right. Gouged for parking.
Lovely old hotel. Great tall ceilings, bay windows, and cute rooms. Yes, if you want ultramodern it's not for you. But there are plenty of plugs, wireless for a small fee, and above all, character.
well it's really dusty, outdated. Not really clean. I don't know what the management is doing but they should travel and see what is out here u have to pay $10 per 24h for wifi aha what a joke in 2013
Definitely not the place to stay if you care where you lay your head to sleep- stains on the sheets, no towels, and the smell was terrible- it didn't smell old-the odor of Lysol was in the air- ick!
Great hotel, especially for the price. I got a deal through Hotels.com for $179. The rooms are nice, staff is friendly, location is great, and it has wonderful views. I would definitely come back.
Horrible valet service. They've got two guys running the whole thing.
Rooms doesn't smell bad...smell old which is not bad is ghostly good
Best hotel for Lollapalooza
Good: inexpensive, close to everything, electrical outlets everywhere. Not so good: hot water was lukecold, no fridge (if you care). It's not a 5 star hotel, don't expect it to be. Would stay again.
People who complain about this are insane. This is our third year staying and each time it's been great. Do have to pay for wifi but that's minor. Plus there is a lot of history too.
Ghosts everywhere but in my hair
Great Location for #TasteOfChicago Qaint hotel staff great BUT go across to Chicago Carry Out at TravelLodge for breakfast and lunch. Much more economical.
Just going to reiterate, don't stay here if you don't have to.
The chicken tenders from Rafael's were raw. I had a much better time at Super 8. At least I could watch interesting channels there :|
Rooms are really nice; get a view facing the plaza and the fountain if at all possible.
My basic criteria: clean, quiet & comfy, was met. Great stay.
Clean and affordable. Easy access to anywhere in the city but might be haunted.
Condom found behind night stand was not there when we plugged in phone charger, but there now,not ours
Careful what you leave in your room, things are missing and housekeepers enter your room at will long after they have cleaned your room.if you can stay elswhere,DO SO!!!
Affordable but old fashion not vintage
Ghosts?? Yes please.
If you're still drunk from the night before and it's 2 pm and you're showering and you have bad vision you'll see faces of dead people in the tiles of the shower.
I just did a shot with the ghost that "haunts" this place. I can't even say yolo.
Hotel halls look like something right out of the shining
The north tower is haunted. Ask security for a tour of the ballrooms. This is Chicago's best kept architectural secret. Ignore the picketers when you walk in, life isn't always fair. Plain &simple.
People leaving comments here obviously do not stay at many hotels! :). Refrigerators available, just ask. Staff is friendly. Rooms are nice. For the price, I expected worse but was very happy!
The ChapStick in the gift shop is $2.75!
Request room 441 for the haunted experience.
Service is less than mediocre. See ya.
Overall not a bad hotel, rooms are a bit dated, great location
The beds here could stand to be replaced. They're a little to firm and old. Decor could also use a little updating but over all not bad. No ghosts either. Lol
