Old fashioned cocktail bar lounge offering classic cocktails from days gone by. These guys know what they are doing. Reservations recommended.
Write this down: Sazerac, old fashioned and a bartenders choice. Cheers!
Explore the unknown with rare cocktails and engage the smart wait staff by asking for recommendations.
Great place for drinks. Don't judge by the exterior. Cool decor inside and terrific wait staff.
Get a punch bowl of just about anything and split it between friends! I had two other friends with me and we ended up getting three drinks each from the bowl. This is the one with chartreuse
Reservations are highly recommended but you need to call before 6p to reserve your time. If you miss the cutoff, it's walk-in only.
Very expensive. But the drinks are fantastic and the speakeasy environment is awesome.
Olives are a great snack. Make it a priority to come when local bands are playing. Intimate venue with great drinks.
Awesome atmosphere and amazing people.
Door staff is cool. Don't try to make a reservation after 5pm
Worst cocktail bar I have ever been to. Smug service. When it exists, for a few seconds, that is. Bullshit bartender. Horrible drinks. The staff seem to hate each other too. Awful awful awful.
Chill spot to get your night started on u street
You will think you're entering a sketchy place, until you get inside.
You can depend on the bartenders!
It better be the weekend if I'm here.
There is no sexier place in DC than The Gibson. A date once gave the doorman a description of me, and when I arrived I was greeted by name and whisked inside to the appropriate table. Fabulous.
Drinks here are pretty wild. And it means both good and bad. You'd be wise to pick conservatively.
Took us without a reservation but barely so make one!
Probably my favorite bar. Only place I absolutely recommend.
Wildly overrated. People lining up just because they see a line. "Speakeasy" concept lasts as far as the judgmental bouncer; inside is just another $16 cocktail spot.
Service is terrible and the drinks are just mediocre. I would say avoid if possible. There are way better spots in the area
Great spot to duck into during a busy night on U St. Yes, it really is through that door! Every cocktail tried was superb, and service was enjoyable. Intimate but pleasant time.
Old Fashioned and Lions Tail were both great. Cool atmosphere.
Everything here is perfect. Just get the door guy to text you when your spot is ready so you don't miss out!
Back patio for date night.
These guys try to hard. MP drinks? Pass.
Try the classic Old Fashioned. Best ever.
Downstairs and inside. This is how you go about the Gibson. Bar seats are the best as you can get personalized cocktails and chat with the bartenders.
Awesome outdoor patio in the back!
Fantastic atmosphere, especially at the patio. This place has so much potential, but it's biggest flaw is its rude/douchebag/hipster doorman! Zero people skills and an attitude to go with it! So sad!
The "I've been drinking" tastes like rubber cement glue
Top-notch cocktails. Forget the menu; sit at the bar, tell the bartender what you like, and let him create something just for you.
Try these drinks: Glam, I been drankin & blood of Kings and ask for Frank! He's great!!!!
No lines on Sundays.
Ted is the best! Ask for the "dry but refreshing" drink. It'll blow your mind.
Fantastic intimate atmosphere wether you're looking for romance or mystery this is the perfect night spot,
If you can forgive the occasionally rude folks at the door, this is a fantastic speakeasy- great cocktails, environment, and bartenders.
Want a cocktail? This has everything you could possibly imagine.
Its there just unnoticed
Awesome Date Spot
My friends all bailed on me one night so I went here solo. Got a spot at the bar, downed three great cocktails, and the bartender sent me off with a rye shot on the house. It was a good night.
good people, great drinks, awesome atmosphere
In true speakeasy style it is difficult to find. It is right next to the Marvin with only a hand painted writing on the brick wall to indicate The Gibson. Great place with the best well mixed drinks.
The "Bren on the Patio" is like drinking a Yankee candle. Give it a try.
The green olvies are delicious... The spiced nuts are perfectly saled and spiced... Mmmmm
Up stairs is great but the full effect along with the attached menu is down stairs....
bartenders were fanfrickintastik. Let them concoct a drink especially for you.
