Caution: the pepper sauce is waaay too strong! I put a few drops and got nearly-dead. That being said, just buy your choice and sit nearby to eat it. The chicken over rice is great and comes in tons!
  • Stephanie H.
Best place to go when you're absolutely starving! Try the chicken and lamb combo with rice drizzled with their white sauce. And make sure to have plenty of cash on hand.
  • Bill P.
Don't miss the beer gyro and chicken and rice. Don't worry about the line, it moves fast. Also look across the streer, there are two cart, both from the same place. :-) Bring CASH , and an appetite.

Definitely a good choice for the first time Halal Food experience. Get a combo(chicken&lamb) over rice! One order of a rice dish could feed two people. BBQ sauce is essential. Cash only!

If you go during prime dining hours, you can expect to wait in line. But the line moves fast. Best halal in town. I like to mix the white sauce with BBQ sauce for extra punch

The famous gyro stand in NYC. People from all around US, and the world come to taste their excellent big portioned rice. They are very quick but accept only cash. I lovw their chicken over rice.

Got the mixed rice twice in a week! So good! Be careful not to put too much hot sauce though, it's super spicy and this is coming from someone who can take spicy

If you do something well, here is the result. We have waited half an hour to taste and enjoyed a lot. Hot sauce is really hot, be careful and have the white sauce as much as possible.

I ordered gyro over rice and falafel sandwich at 4:30pm on a rainy day which means line was non existent. I got chicken over rice and gyro sandwich. They have only 3 proteins. You deduce my thoughts..

I like the one of the northeast corner who allow you to put on your own sauces (so much extra white sauce). Definitely get a side of falafel as well. Great NYC experience.

Ah yes the original Halal guys, what more do you expect than perfection? They know how to make killer halal, and the sauces are out of this world!! Shredded halal is the key!

Another endless queue for a poor dish of street food. can't understand why people say a single good thing about this truck.. will passionately recommend people, who have good taste of food, not to try

10:1. The optimal ratio of white sauce to red sauce. The white sauce is that delicious. The red sauce is that spicy. And for a winner: get 1/2 lamb 1/2 chicken over rice. You're welcome..

Without a doubt one the my favorite street vendors. I have driven from NJ in the middle of the night after going out, just to eat here. I am strictly loyal to this cart as it is simply the BEST.

If you know any better, you'll know the carts are all the same & if you're at the original with the Godforsaken longest line you're either: 1) A sucker 2) A tourist. Go across the street or on 52nd ✌️

Sooooooooo good. I dream about their lamb gyro. The white sauce is amazing (and I usually don't like white sauce from other carts), but the hot sauce is terrifyingly hot.

Best drunk food EVER! It's great! There's actually two other stands beside the original one which are own by the same owner so you don't have to wait in the ridiculously long line.

Lamb Gyro platter without the rice or salad is what I get. HOT sauce is really HOT. Don't try to be a hero. Go crazy with the white sauce though. Always buy one extra for the next day!

The wait is more than worth it! Big portions of gyro/chicken over rice for $6. Make sure you specify if you're ordering to-go or eating it right away. Don't go too crazy with the hot sauce...

The lamb and chicken combo over rice is the best! I don't know what's with the white sauce but it's really addicting. Beware of the red sauce, it will make your mouth explode. It's really hot!!

$4 buys you a stuffed pita filled with chicken and/or lamb plus salad, with generous squirts of incendiary red sauce and addictive white "Valhalla Sauce." Upgrade to the platter for another $1 or $2. Read more

$4 for mixed meat sandwich & $10 for mixed meat over rice which comes w/ slices of pita bread. Ask for both white and red sauce and small containers to go. Best $10 spent and there was no line at 4p!

The DIY sauce station is a minefield. The red sauce is REALLY hot. If you do like I do, and cover the top of your plate with red sauce, you are seriously going to be screwed. Go easy!

INCREDIBLE chicken over rice for $6! Do yourself a favor, go here & beware impostors! (though note that these guys have several carts, the sign at 53rd and 6th will tell you which ones are authentic).

If you're like me and don't usually believe the hype, trust me - this is well worth it. The food is fucking amazing. 6$ could easily feed 2 people and a small girl. Tip: don't go easy on the sauce.

Best Street Meat in NYC, hands down Yogurt and hot sauce are a must! Some will even sell the hot sauce by the bottle. Watch out for impostors! (The real deal are in yellow shirts that say "Halal Guys"

The best Halal cart in NYC hands down. To those of you who think its 53rd and 6th your sadly mistaken. 52nd and 6th is where its at. The meat is more tender and theres no bones in it. Simply amazing.

We got the chicken & lamb combo sandwich, and thought it was very good. Get extra white sauce (which is pretty much a thin mayo), and maybe extra salad! The red sauce in little pots its VERY VERY HOT!

Standing in the long line is part of the experience. If you are a first timer or taking someone there for first time....do it. Don't go crazy with hot sauce but definitely try the white sauce.

If you can take 10-15 min to hit up Jackson Heights for Sammy's halal (vendy award winner) or 6th & west 4th outpost, seriously so much better. More flavorful & so worth it. Ask for the green sauce!

Best place to go to for little or no lines. I avoid the other location on 53rd & 6th since there can be a line during lunch. Make sure the cart and the shirts the cooks are wearing say The Halal Guys.

Be careful everyone. There are impostors who have setup shop on the corner of W53rd & 6th (across from the hotel) who use the same color scheme, same bags, and almost the same logo as The Halal Guys!

Get the lamb on rice- the bits of warm pita mixed in are delish. Drown it in the white sauce, easy on the hot sauce, and add some BBQ if you're feeling tangy. All $6. Grab a drink nearby- $1.

The OG truck is on the southwest corner of 53rd & 6th. The one on the south east corner is usually less crowded, but the EXACT same crew... & will have on the trademark curry color Halal Guy Polos

Get the chicken/gyro combo, slather on white sauce, dot on hot sauce (it's killer), and ask for a lid in case you don't finish it. Identical carts across and down the street - look for the yellow bags

Lamb and rice. Ask for an excess of white sauce, you'll be happy you did. If you can handle spicy (and by spicy I mean willing to risk the formation of a stomach ulcer), say yes to the red sauce.

Lamb and rice platter! At least two white sauces to go and quarter of one hot sauce (if like spicy). *BEWARE of hot sauce! Extremely hot (and not just saying that. Proceed with caution. =o)

In Midtown West, the epicenter of overpriced food in Manhattan, this is probably one of the cheapest, most satisfying meals you can get (except for maybe a $5 footlong @ Subway). Red sauce = VERY HOT.

Worth taking the trip from NJ on late drunken nights. chicken/lamb combo is good.use excessive white sauce w/ a little BBQ. you won't regret it. But you will if you accidentally put hot sauce instead.

This halal cart us horrible! Tourists seem to love it, but do not eat it! You want real good halal? Go downtown to Leroy street and Hudson. Best halal food in town. Clean and fresh unlike 53rd garbage

get the lamb/beef platter. skip the chicken altogether and get A LOT of white sauce (cover the entire platter). avoid the red sauce, it's too spicy and takes away from the flavor. open 7pm-4am daily! Read more

1 of the best meals in NY is served on the street. Get TWO gyros because you'll regret only getting 1 and don't turn down the "hote sose." For some reason ALL the gyro stands in NY are ONLY found here
