North Michigan Avenue, also known as The Magnificent Mile, is an unparalleled mixed-use district located in the heart of Chicago.
Traffic is slow, so you'll have all the time in the world to crane your neck upwards to take in what must be one of the world's most fantastic man-made canyons.
In 1924, the first traffic lights in Chicago were installed on Michigan Avenue. The cost? $34,000. Michigan Avenue was also the first street to be raised above lake level to alleviate muddy roads.
Michigan Avenue is "magnificent" for a reason. The flower-lined street is home to luxury hotels, top restaurants, major museums and galleries, the best spas and every kind of store you can imagine.
The lights on Michigan Ave look great.
wear comfy shoes. do it.
When crossing the street, please mind the light. Pedestrians need to pay attention to the DON'T WALK sign so they don't create congestion and traffic delays.
Historic street in Chicago! Be sure to snap a picture of Ms. Monroe in front of the NBC Building.
Windiest corner of the city!
Beautifull, georgeous, splendid. Enjoy the mixture of architecture and the best shops.
North Michigan Ave from the river to Oak St is the city's most prestigious thoroughfare, lined with over 450 shops selling all things luxurious. – Green Guide Editor
Catch all the music at Lights Festival Lane! 10am Choo-Choo Soul with Genevieve; 12:15pm Justin Roberts and the Not Ready for Naptime Players; 2pm Allstar Weekend; 3pm Crystal Bowersox.
Park your car and walk. Seriously, if you're in a car, this place is frustrating. Get out and walk for a bit.
Some of the BEST shopping I've had in years. If you're into 'Apple' products, their Mag Mile location is pretty dope! The product selection is vast.
Overwhelming Shopping Experience! The most Perfect Avenue for Style, Fashion, Elegance, and Culture! Loved it and can't wait to go back for more!
Walk faster please.
Shoppers love it for the stores; tourists, because it is beautiful, convenient, clean, and safe. I love it as an architecture walk. Start south of the river on East Wacker and enter via the bridge.
Stop on the corner of Michigan & Ontario in front of Grand Lux Cafe to watch the street performers, which are usually dancers/singers spray painted head to toe in gold or silver. Don't forget to tip!
What’s on the Magnificent Mile? Everything from top tier dining and shopping to world-class museums.
Take a photo facing north when you see the Water Tower. Always a nice shot.
My favorite place to visit in Chicago. Gorgeous flowers on the sidewalks, great shopping and restaurants. :)
