The Metropolitan Museum of Art, located in New York City, is the largest art museum in the United States with among the most significant art collections. Its permanent collection contains more than two million works, divided among nineteen curatorial departments.
Overwhelmingly large. It is a giant maze of amazing things.
Get up on the roof for a beautiful view.
World class institution, amazing collection of applied and decorative art. The American wing with its interiors is a must. Many free tours available every day with passionate and prepared volunteers.
Pay what you like even a penny. Open late on Saturday night. Perfect for winter Moitze Shabbat. Some Jewish historical artifacts
It's huge so pick out the artists or time periods you want to see. I went for the modernists. Beautiful architecture....also with Central Park outside
Gigantic museum with something for everybody. And it's always pay-what-you-want
Spent a day every year for 5 years still couldnt finish the full tour. Do your homework prior to visit to just see the highlights
Buy a snack, sit on the stairs and enjoy the city
Dedicate more than a few hours to explore the numerous exhibits. Utilize the cafe and cafeteria or a more fancy option - the restaurant for a bite and beverage; for a rest of the feet.
I've spent 4 hours in this place! And it was awesome
Classic NYC. Amazing halls and kids love modern art, Egyptian and Kings exhibitions.
The music audio tour is brilliant. A great way to see diverse work, and not overwhelm you.
Breathtaking beauty. My favorite museum in the world. Check the rooftop garden in the summer.
A magical sight to see
My favorite museum in NY. There's literally everything.
An endless maze of artifacts to see. Make sure to pay a visit for at least an hour when in New York. But actually you should spend at least a day in it. :) You can withdraw cash in the basement floor.
The egyptian exhibit is great
Name your price on admission. Grab a map. Go check out some Monet and Van Gough paintings. Check out Egyptian and American Wing.
Catch the Navigating the west paintings by George Caleb Bingham before the exhibition ends.
Interesting and rather extensive Egyptian exhibit on middle Kingdom
donated a dollar and stayed all day.
Awesome place! Spent there about 5 hours! It's worth it!
Purchase your ticket in advance to avoid crowds. You must go through security to enter. Allow at least one full day visit.
Great collection of Warhol, but I miss more pieces from some other great American artists!
Way too crowded and overwhelming for my taste.
Go to the roof to see the Huyghe exhibit. Brilliant! Skip the cafeteria and go for the many food carts outside.
Huge collection of art & artefacts housed in an amazing building. Small but lovely collection of Mexican art in gallery 749
My favorite museum in New York City! Become a member if you live in the area.
Law requires you - when leaving the museum - to grab a hot dog and sit on the stairs.
Admissions are pay what you wish donations, the roof is open during warm weather, annual costume exhibitions and the greatest collection of artwork on the planet!
Most of the works mentioned in "The Mixed-Up Files of Mrs. Basil E. Frankweiler" are there in their immortal glory.
You could spend days here, it's wonderful. What the staff doesnt tell you is that the admissions (25$) are donations and voluntary so you can also go there if you don't have the money to spend!!!
Maybe its because of Game of Thrones, but I'm totally into the armor. See what Henry VIII wore.
My favourite place in NYC
It's huge, a bit confusing and has more works of art that a person could see in one day. Don't miss the Islamic art section, it's gorgeous!
All expositions are awesome. At least go two days.
Bank of America cardholders get free access every first weekend of the month, but then again, admission fees are suggested, not required. The Egyptian, European, and Medieval exhibits are cool.
The best museum I've ever been to! I walked around for 4 hours and probably only saw half the museum!
Very big they an offer for the student in the weekend
I'm in love with this museum!
This maybe my personal favorite museum- for as long as I can remember. In fact I used to ask to come here so often dad thought it most practical to become a member. A must visit as often as possible
Make sure to get there early! It helps when you want to go through the entire museum.
One of the great museums of the world. During the summer be sure to get to the rooftop for the spectacular views of Central Park and the city skyline
Few times near by the museum never went in, amazing Byzantine Empire (550-650) gold pieces display.
Want to spend your day trip in NY city, place to go but won't even have enough time to finish just one wing(north & south) you definitely have to go back.
Pay as you wish! 25 cents wheeeeee
