Neat little out of the way place for poetry. They still have ashtrays on every table (but people still go outside to smoke)

Oldest press club in the nation, but as popular with attorneys and Industry folk as with reporters. Good drink prices & friendly staff.

Tried to get in here for a wrap party and because it was 5 minutes past 3 they slammed the door in my face and would hear me out. Last time I'll be coming here.

Anthony Bourdain drank an Irish Car Bomb and a shot of hot dog water (after losing rock-paper-scissors) here while in town filming for his show The Layover.

It's like a work and party people speakeasy, but it's legal. Pen and Pencil is one of the best places to grab a drink if your job takes you into the after-hours. Read more

Legend says there's a brass plaque @ a prominent spot in Philly, over the till, that reads, to the 'tenders. "P&P: Always a Bad Idea." It is. But it's an institution, a privilege. Straight Philly. Go.

The P&P is a private club, but it's pretty easy to talk your way inside. The bar allows smoking and is cash only. Keep an eye out for the free hot dogs cooking in the crock pot.
