Back before the overpriced condos and trendmongers of the Meatpacking, Red Cat was making delicious, creative New American cuisine for the art gallery set and other locals. Still as good as ever.

So, I thought the bacon tempura would be gross but delicious. I almost asked not to have it. But then I did. And in the was gross and delicious. Very, very delicious.

If you sit at the bar and order wisely, you can certainly eke out a meal for not much more than $15/head. It was a light meal, we were certainly full when we left, and more than satisfied.

Everything's good. They'll serve their great burger (a bar special) anywhere in the restaurant, just ask for it. You'll have to ask for their excellent herbed fries on the side.

    Tim Shey · May 3, 2011
  • Rex H.

In such a wonderful restaurant, I wouldn't recommend the french fries unless they really deserved it. And they are.

Rarely would you choose to order something as simple + ordinary as a BLT at a restaurant of this caliber, but the BLT here is out of this world perfect w/ an unusual twist of dates for added sweetness

Get the fontina cheese. And for a Lo-carb decadent app eat it with the the radishes instead of the bread.

Grub Street off-menu dish: Tempura Bacon. "The over-the-top deep-fried bacon dish has been on and off the menu sporadically, though the restaurant assures us it's always available."
