Start at the southern tip of Griffith Park and walk through the lovely Fern Dell trail. Arrive and "eat pie in the forest like a king". It's not the food that's special, it's the surrounds.

They take credit/debit now, but with a $5 minimum. They replaced the lavender shortbread with rose-lemonade shortbread. It's okay, but not worth the trip if that's all you want.

From 500 B.C. on the Tongva tribes displaced the Chumash in this region. The Tongva called the canyon Mocohuenga. They had a settlement here by 1500, decades before Cabrillo would describe this coast.
