Walt Disney’s story is brought to life at The Walt Disney Family Museum in The Presidio of San Francisco. The Museum illuminates Disney’s achievements using historic materials, interactive galleries, artwork, a model of Disneyland and more. Visitors can also enjoy the Museum store,...
Opened on October 1, 2009, the museum features the life and legacy of Walt Disney. The museum retrofitted and expanded three existing historic buildings on the Presidio’s Main Post.
You are NOW allow to take pictures inside the museum as of 2/15/2013. No flash!
You can't take pictures once inside the museum but you just have to so do it on the down low!
Check their website to get a list of upcoming events. It is a great place to see, hear & meet Disney legends for a very affordable price. Bring your autograph books as they often stick around after.
If you're a Disney fan and/or into drawing and animation -- you'll find this a hidden treasure of history and inspiration.
If you are a Disney fan, plan on a minimum of 3 hrs to tour the museum!
Wonderful museum in the Presidio to see the untold story behind the Disney family. Parents may enjoy more than kids (but still kid friendly)
The furniture at the entrance of the galleries is the original furniture from Walt's apartment above the firehouse at Disneyland.
The last gallery (room) of the museum is soooo worth it
Don't be fooled by the first floor. Once you go up the elevator, the museum never ends! Reserve the WHOLE day if you want to read and see everything!
Very pretty and well put together exhibit. Even the young kids liked it more than I expected since there were many multimedia interactive activities to do.
Awesome museum about Walt Disney. Expect lots of reading for 3-4 hours! Now the Wiki entry about Walt Disney doesn't do him justice. :)
Not for little ones, most of the museum is reading.
Use your AAA and get $5 off admission
Give yourself at least half a day to go through it. If you're a huge Disney fan, you may even want to give yourself a whole day.
Look for Sorcerer Mickey in the theatre
The museum store is splendid.
Expect to spend the whole day here if you're a fan of Walt Disney and a history buff. You won't believe how much stuff they have in an unassuming building!
Great and very interesting. Not a good place to take the kids. Only one game in the entire museum. Very lovely and clean!
You get $5.00 off admission with a AAA card.
They allow photography (without flash) in their exhibit! It's such a wonderful experience. They only include the classics; Cinderella, Snow White, Bambi, lady and the tramp
Free parking on weekends!
Check for $3 off coupon on WaltDisney.org. Also need at least 5 Hours to see all of museum.
I didn't know about this place. It's wonderful, I left the museum very inspired.
The staff get kind of stalker-ish as it gets closer to closing time.
Not for little kids, but if you're into Disney it's a no- brainer.
Don't bring kids unless they really really want to know about all things Disney .... Pretty awesome though... Best Museum ever
Cool place to stop in if you're a fan of Disney in general -- more about Walt and the history of the studio than what a lot of us grew up on in the 80s & 90s.
Have yet to go... One day soon!
Really nice place with extremely nice employees. Tons of information are held within the galleries so take your time as you go through. Don't rush or you might miss something.
Absolutely ah may zing. We were there for 2 hrs but wish we cudve stayed longer! A must-see for Disney fans
Exceeded my expectations! Spent 3 hours here and read <1/2 the content. Wonderful museum for fans of the genius of Disney.
The end is very well done and very moving.
Membership has it's privileges. Discounts on food, shopping. Special events thrown in.
This place blew me away! I was prepared to skim through but everything was interesting! I ended up staying 5 hrs. The attention to detail Disney puts in its parks is just as prevalent here.
Leave a few minutes to linger in the gift shop. There are items you won't usually find at Disneyland or Disney World.
Absolutely fantastic, but be aware that this museum is about WALT DISNEY as a person & about the world he created. Not the best place for kids, but a must for anyone who wants to learn about Disney.
Great place to visit - has a great layout filled with lots of interesting things. Not a museum about Mickey Mouse but the life of Walt Disney) the person, so not the best place to bring kids.
Download Google's Fieldtrip app and redeem the offer for free admission! Grab food/have a picnic at Off The Grid food/farmers market in front of the museum
Plan for at least 4 hours here. It's that interesting + full of info. Kids will love it but if you really want to understand the life of Walt Disney then get a sitter.
Cool history but pricey admission. If you go around lunch, bring your own food or be prepared to spend $$ at the cafe.
I took a whole of group of kids for a field trip n they loved it esp the free Disney film u get to see in the theather room
Cafe is ok, but grab food before you come.
Parking is free on the weekends.
This place is awesome. But leave yourself time to explore the treasure trove of Disney memorabilia.
