The single best monument in the USA. His momentous ambition and is met only by his self-reflection; recognising his laws could one day be barbarous and need modernisation. Jefferson is inspirational.

Set on the water & within view of the White House & Washington Monument, surroundings of this rotunda are as gorgeous as the building. Peak season in the spring when cherry blossoms are in bloom. Read more

Take the tour from Bike the Sites and ride your bike right up to the steps. Lots of fun and you easily explore all the monuments in less time than it takes walking or bussing.

Beautiful place to be during the summer nights. If you look directly across the Potomac River, where the Jefferson statue looks towards the water, you can see the White House directly across.

Public transportation and cabs are hard to come by here. Beautiful site, with a view of the White House, from the top of the steps. Walk from here to the MLK Memorial if you are looking for a cab.

Another fabulous spot I've shot many weddings. Sunset/dusk the light is perfect for shooting from the steps out to the Monument with the Tidal Basin as backdrop. Be mindful of the rangers ;-)

My favorite monument in DC. Super quiet with very few people every time I go. Plus it looks like the Pantheon in Rome

Interesting fact: For the official dedication, a plaster statue was installed due to a metal shortage during WWII. It wasn’t until four years later that the bronze statue was completed and installed.
