The sides are amazing and the selection thereof is extensive. You're going to have to go a few times just for those delicious Southern sides. The vintage advertising's also a real treat for the eyes.

Weekend brunch buffet has delicious biscuits, made to order omelettes, fantastic cheese grits, and I could just go on. Plus gospel music.

Honestly I had the chicken fried steak, not sure why everyone is saying it is the best in Austin. To me it is just Average. It's very plain with not much taste. But the walls are cool.

Top tip is incorrect. Armadillo World Headquarters was next door; but AWH's spirit lives on in the art on the walls and in TWH's beer garden when the music gets under way.

Someone left a tip that this building used to be the Armadillo World Headquarters. Not true. It is constructed in part of the location where the original AWH stood, but not the actually building.

Do the Sunday morning gospel brunch! Get here about 10:30 for a good seat in the saloon, you won't be sorry! The mimosas and sweet potato pancakes are the ish!

Be sure to ask your waiter or waitress for "second helpings" of whichever vegetables you order with your meal. It's an old Threadgill's tradition and they're FREE!

The food is terrible, the seasoning is off, the potatoes are bland and the chicken steak gravy is sweet instead of savory. The waiter service give a cult vibe. I don't recommend this place.

Just because social media & their menu boast about the chicken fried steak, doesn't mean it's good. It was bland, too salty and the gravy was just awful. Good bar service though.

Their sides are almost universally excellent. If I were to ever "leave" my wife, she knows she can find me in a giant vat of their Scalloped Potatoes.

Second helpings of vegetable sides (we're looking at you too, mac & cheese) are free, so remind your waiter or waitress when you're cravin' fried pickles.

They DO have kids menus. If George is server he will tell you they don't so he can pad the check. Danny the manager fixed the situation food 3-4 out of 5 stars

I was not at all impressed by the legendary chicken fried steak. Mac and cheese was only ok. My girlfriend was not a fan of the scalloped potatoes. Overall, meh.

Interesting: this building used to be the home of the Armadillo World Headquarters as one of the early catalysts of the Austin music scene. Janis Joplin got her start at the original at 6414 N. Lamar!
