Still has the old NY feel, it's a great spot to people watch or hang out in the nice weather with a book. Plenty of good food and bars around. Beautiful in the spring and home to a family of Hawks
This park gets so much funding, yet it's always dirty and filled with drug addicts. Not safe to walk here at night. The dog park is the only positive here.
Stop by on Sundays to browse the farmers market. Any other day just for some relaxing and to see the interesting characters that make their way through

A great place to stroll after eating and before the in goes down. Stop at the dog park to the watch dogs play. Always a great way to see how compatible you are with your date.
Relaxing park, a few courts, a pool I don't think anyone uses, and benches galore. I've been warned it's not so nice the later in the evening you get, but surrounded by shops and hot spots.
Fanny Allie's Serendipity is a life-size silhouette of a formerly homeless man who spent much of his time in the park. The steel figure is a symbol of hope. On display through November 2013. Read more

There are two dog runs at Tompkins Square Park. One for large dogs and the other for small dogs. If you have a medium sized dog, however, they can run loose around the flag pole.
There's a pile of fertilizer in Tompkins Square Park you can't miss it. There's also piles of human shit sprinkled around Thompkins Square Park too, though, so watch your step.
