It all started in the 50s... Would you believe we started out as a small chain of convenience stores? It's true. Way back in 1958. We were called Pronto Markets. In '67, our founder, the original Trader Joe, changed our name (yes, to Trader Joe's) and the way we do busi...
Great Deals on Wine and Cheese!
Best time to come is around 8:30. Otherwise, be prepared to wait.
Always a busy place. Avoid going on Sunday mornings. They don't seem to have all there stock in by then
The staff here are always the nicest ever. Also, be nice to the world and bring a reusable shopping bag - if you do, they'll put your name in a raffle. ;)
a little expensive but great food
This is the only grocery store I've been to in New York where the staff aren't pissed off all the time. They were friendly, courteous & even.. Gasp.. SMILING!!! What's going on?!!!
When it's busy, don't get discouraged because the staff knows how to keep the lines movin!!
The lines were not as scary as anticipated...but Sunday night is slim pickings for some items. I'm going to try early morning next time.
Prices and variety makes the long lines worth it.
Great Deals on Wine and Cheese!
Dont worry the lines move fast
Lines are long but move fast
It may look like chaos reigns, but you will be out faster than you think.
Lines seem long but they go fast. Make sure you skip the aisles the lines goes in so you can shop while you are moving in the line.
Beat the rush and shop early Sunday mornings.
Shop for everything you need on the Downtown floor first, then get on the line and collect things like milk, eggs meat and veggies while you are on line traveling to check out.
Go early between 8:00 and 9:30 am on weekends
Most efficient grocery store in the UWS - lines are extremely fast - great food.
Amazing prices, horrible lines
Don't go during peak hours unless you enjoy long lines.
Go when it opens at 8am...it's WORTH IT.
almost always a line but still My favorite grocery in upper west.
Very cheap and wide variety!
A grocery store of organized chaos. Avoid during peak times - the after work crowd is intense and they'll often turn people away if lines are too long. Fairway and Westside Market nearby are good alts
Why would you shop anywhere else? Seriously?
Got great vegetables and fruits
I really don't like the layout of this location - very confusing. 3 floors total. Frozen should be closest to the check out, not a floor away!
This line is outrageous. But $2 arugula and tortellini? I'm there.
Trader Joes is a staple in NYC. Go during the weekday afternoon to avoid the normal craziness
Don't worry about the line because it moves very quickly. But do take time to enjoy the artwork
Love Trader Joe's but this one gets so crowded. Really solid produce though. And so much cheaper than any other store.
Super high volume traffic, but they've really got managing the checkout lines down to a science.
Come on a random week day at 10 am for virtually no line
The chocolate covered peanut butter pretzel bites are dangerously good. So are most of their treats. Lines are always long, but move well.
The line always moves faster than you think. Start in the basement for frozen + pantry stuff, move upstairs for fresh. Don't abandon your cart in the line to shop for 3-5 minutes. Reach! And jam 🎧.
Annoyingly over populated at all times, but I still love Joe's
Inner peas: great snack. Not too bad for you. Cookie butter: eat at your own risk. Highly addictive, delicious and definitely not good for you.
Fruit and Veggies are way better here than at Fairway.
Go before 1pm on the weekends to avoid bigger crowds, but bring your patience for crowds and pushy shoppers every time.
Cinco de mayo = line wrapped around the corner to get into the store
1130am on a Tuesday and a line as far as the eye can see. Do people on the UWS work?
Part of a mid-size specialty food market chain. Has a variety of organic produce and raw nuts and seeds. Perfect place to shop while doing the Dherbs.com FULL BODY CLEANSE.
Cottage cheese is like goo. Awful! Possibly worse than Bordens.
Go as soon as they open to avoid the crowds and long lines.
Can't stand shopping here lol, but a lady friend of mine said to always stay calm & if you come often, you'll get used to the rude, ignorant masses. 😒😀
Swiss dark chocolate with 30% whole hazelnuts!
Long lines. Confusing and cramped store set-up. Get your organic broccoli slaw from another location...
This store is a daily shit show unless you come early in the morning before 12 or after 8pm, otherwise be prepared for chaos! There is even an occasional line outside to get in which is just insane!!
Love this TJ's. Everyone who works here is super nice:)
Avoid weekend nights :D
Avoid this place like the plague btwn 5-6:30pm; the check out lines are ridiculously loooooong!
