I'd been told that the sound and picture isn't as good as a typical multiplex; utter garbage. The seating, staff, sound and vision are all excellent, and you can have a beer or wine while you watch!

Keep eyes peeled for offers on the 'Friends of the Tyneside' membership cards; two free tickets, money off normal ticket price and big discounts in the bars & coffee room - WELL worth buying!

Easily the best cinema in the NE if not the country. Great film selection. Wylam beers served in the bar. Check out the 75p classic all nighters.

Make sure you check the bar out! Quirky and cool at the same time, with a mini museum of film adding to sweetness. Well deserving of the webby award!

By far the best cinema in the North East. No annoying kids and a lot of screenings of indie and small budget films.

A gorgeous indie cinema with some great programming, I am stupidly fond of the place. Also an excellent place to grab something to eat/drink in central Newcastle.

Look out for film night in the bar - £3.50 in with a drink included and perhaps some free popcorn if you're lucky...

one of the primary wonders of Newcastle: stunning independent cinema, and you can take pints in to the cinema!

I'm usually not a fan of sitting in the back rows, but they are definitely the best seats to sit in the Electra.

The bar is open till 11 and with the bus stops right out side, you can stop for that last drink and catch the last bus home.
