Uchi has the best happy hour in Houston. Great dishes like the uchiviche and machi cure are so affordable, and the flavors are unmatched. Plus, rolls like the ham and egg are fun and filling!
Happy hour is every weekday and offers some of Uchi's favorites — machi cure with smoked yellowtail, for example, and the skewers of pork belly called bacon sen — for a drastically reduced price.
The tasting menu is the way to see why this is Houston's best restaurant. Nigiri, duck, asparagus, venison, roasted carrots. All Delicious. Bring a full wallet, for special occasions only!
Absolutely delightful. On your first visit, the 10-course tasting menu will let you get a good feel for the sights, smells and tastes of the place. Be sure to try their sake selection too.
The shag and mustang roll delish. The bacon tataki amazing. They had a foie special that day that was spectacular. Michael our sever knew everything about every dish and had spectacular recommendation
One if the best dinner experiences I've had in my life. Got the "Chefs Selection" which was 10 courses of which I would've ordered none myself. All amazing and surprising. Very pricey though!
I can't imagine there is a single bad thing on the menu, but the stand outs for me were foie gras sushi, an off-the-menu anchovy sashimi (boquerones sashimi), and the fried milk dessert.
This restaurant is for sure one of Houston's most exquisite restaurants! Superior thought put into every dish. Be wary of "market price" options. both occasions were $300+. Worth it though :)
It was my first time here. My server was Pam and she was awesome. She detailed every step of the menu before I could ask anything. & The Ryoshuu is a must try drink for a lady.
Try the Ham & Eggs - this is a very interesting take on a comfort food, and was VERY good...BUT it didnt quite flow with our meal...should have gotten this earlier in the meal
Brussels sprouts are the best here! Really good happy hour menu. Make sure to come when they open at 5PM if you don't have a reservation.
When you're lucky enough to find a seat at the sushi bar... order the 10-course tasting menu. Get insights from the sushi chefs to truly appreciate each course. A foodies delight!
This place lets the waiter order for you after asking general likes. If you do not like something, they will take it away. But I liked everything. Stuff I wouldn’t order otherwise but loved!
Our New Zealand waiter, Matt, gave great suggestions and flawlessly guided us through the menu. The Happy Hour menu was great, and gives you a sampling if their best dishes.
Try the Machi Cure - suggested to eat like a nacho...pick up yucca chip, scoop yellowtail on top, place asian pear on top, then shove it in ur mouth!!! totally awesome!
A great spot for foodies. Try the sunomono maki: suzuki, lime, coconut milk, corn. Amaze-balls. In fact, EVERYTHING here is incredible!
Try the gyutoro nigiri - 72 hr braised short rib over the most perfect rice!!! let me make this clear...SUSHI IS ALL ABOUT THE RICE, NOT THE MEAT OR FISH!!!
What Jewelz said.... The Walu Walu melts in your mouth. The Zero Sen & Cali w/ crab were amazing. And don't forget to top it off with the Fried Milk. 😍
Sit at the sushi bar. Come early (when it opens) to avoid a long wait - or make a reservation. Enjoy all the flavors of each dish mixed together.
If you don't book, don't bother even showing up, wait is endless and it seems many people got seated before us and I'm not convinced all of them booked, very unpleasant experience
Don't trust the hostesses. Their job is to keep you from walking out. 40 minutes after reservation. I counted 80 people waiting for a table in a restaurant that seats 140 maxed out.
Wala wala is very tasty! all sushi rolls was great! And fried milk for desert was very great as a final to all tasty things we eat this evening:)
Make sure you get the Walu Walu, Pork Jowels, Brussels Sprouts, Shag roll and some Madai. You won't regret it!
Sit outside while you wait for a table and ask for Chelsea as a server and then let her pick your menu for you. Just trust her. She's amazing.
The absolute BEST sushi we have ever had. Not cheap at all but totally worth every penny. Great date night locale and the atmosphere is inviting.
Unbelievable experience! Jessica picked out the menu for us and her picks were perfect! I highly recommend Uchi if your in Houston and want the best sushi!
Let the waiter order for you. They know their stuff + everything is awesome- wont be able to decide. Sit at the bar to connect with the kitchen.
Try the Yokai Berry - smokey fried dinosaur kale with sweets pears and yokai berries...not ur everyday salmon sashimi dish...sooo interesting!
Try the Brussels Sprouts - probably my favorite of the night...just simply fried brussels tossed in this gnarly sweet and smokey fish sause
Superb, innovative cuisine. Very knowledgeable staff. My only criticism would be that they don't take reservations so waits can be long
Simply Amazing! Expensive but amazing. It's the first time I eat sushi without soy souce. This is a different place. 100% recommended!
The Bacon tataki is SINFUL!!! I would eat it everyday if I could. Paired with the great service, this will be a regular spot.
Try the Hamachi Kama - the texture of the kama was incredible...never had the meat melt like that ever...it was fanfkingtastic!
Machi Cure and hama chili are home runs. Bacon tataki, shrimp tempura, fried brie, brussel. sprouts are good hot dishes
Try the Fried Milk - BEST DESSERT AWARD!!! so sexy when u break through that crust and find that melted milk come oozing out!
Their special blend of sake is incredible, jar jar duck is awesome, and basically anything on the menu will blow you away.
The hama chili will tear down your opinion of any other yellowtail dish you've had before.
Try the Pork Jowl - never had a jowl, and it was again perfectly balanced with the pears and the fresh greens
Sit at the bar. Fun to look while the sushi chefs prep and plate. Great chance to get recommendations from them too.
Extremely expensive and not great taste or service. Unfortunately my group got not so friendly service, which tends to ruin the experience.
Amazing service, great food, & beautiful presentation ! Not as pricey as some made it out to be, around $130 for 5 courses & 3 cocktails
Try the Foie Nigiri - yep...just HAD to do it again! there were other like 4 other things that i had again, but this was worth another spot bc its just so pretty:)
Reasonably priced for an amazing meal. Make sure to try the pitchfork roll and end with the fried milk.
Order a variety of dishes and eat family style. Ham and eggs, eggplant, brussel sprouts are a must.
The chef's tasting menu was fabulous. I also recommend the lime cream dessert or the fried milk.
The flounder is phenomenal- great flavors without overpowering the fish.
