Tours are available even if you didn't reserve. Visit the Senate Gallery by getting a ticket from the Senate Admissions desk. Take the tunnel to the Library of Congress to avoid doing security again.

It is the Temple of American Democracy. The people on the floors might be imperfect, but the Institution and beauty of the place will overwhelm you. Try to get tickets to a State of the Union address

Visit the landmark where laws are made, located just one block from the hotel. This major national landmark is not to be missed. Tours are conducted from 8:50 AM to 3:20 PM Monday through Saturday.
Call your senator's office and arrange the tour ahead of time - April is crazy busy!

Get a free tour from the interns of your Congressman or Congresswoman. Call ahead, make the appointment, dodge the lines, walk in underground tunnels, eat in a Capitol Hill cafeteria for lunch.
Before you tour the Capitol, look up your representative's office and visit them to get gallery passes to the both the house and senate.
