The New York original. All the Polish goodies are great, but really just order the pierogi, steamed or fried, and go to town with applesauce, sour cream and the like. Amazing, simply.
pierogies!! they're delicious and relatively inexpensive here. it's a can't miss east village spot
Pierogies seem like the basic choice, but are totally worth it. Staff here is awesome. Good late night spot.
The stuffed cabbage took the spot light on my deluxe meat plate for sure!!
Decent soups in nyc :)
Ukrainian Meatballs - tender pork & beef meatballs served with rich mushroom gravy, mashed potatoes & beet horseradish salad
The most civilized opening hours you could want.
Their pancakes are awesome! Forgo the sausage and get their delicious thick cut bacon instead.
The only restaurant where can order anything (from beef stroganoff to pancakes) at anytime (from early 4am breakfast to late 11pm supper). real institution in the village!
Pierogis are great and the beef stroganoff is amazing!
Best pierogi! But no vodka
Loved the dumplings and borsht/beetroot soup
Open late, cool spot
Pierogies, mmm & 24 hours.
Get the kielbasa!
Great brunch place with awesome pierogies.
A great diner with Ukrainian favorites. The beef stroganoff and meat plate are worth trying.
The pierogies were wonderful! A lovely, bustling place.
Bigos is great.
Try the kielbasa hero with a bowl of soup!
Vegetable soup was served lukewarm and bland aside from dill freshness. The small size was large enough for one, $7. Goats cheese and arugula pierogi & sauerkraut with mushrooms best. Latke reheated
Pierogies - I loved the goat cheese & arugula, and the sweet potato. And good God that peanut butter pie...
Classic NYC spot - open late with great pierogies and potato pancakes. The beef stroganoff was excellent as well!
The pierogi and borscht are great, but try the kasha also
No borscht can touch this! Seriously the best one. I understand there are different kinds but once you taste this you wonder why.
Can't go wrong with huge plate of pierogis!
Avoid the Wednesday Special: Chicken Paprikash. It's bland and sorely missing the key ingredient, paprika.
As a midwestern boy hailing from the great state of Perogie (Ohio), I was disappointed in Veselka's food.
24 hours of heaven. Get the meat plate!
Quintessential late night East Village experience. Matzo Ball soup and all-day breakfast specials, Arugula & Goat Cheese Perogies are great (but on the smaller side).
Has a great variety of food
These short rib pierogies are fire.
Awful burgers, but good borscht and perogies. Stick to the Ukrainian menu and expect basic Ukrainian dishes (lots of white bread, cabbage, sausage, potatoes, and pancakes).
get breakfast for lunch!
Get a variety of pierogi and an ice-cold cherry lime rickey. The little cup of grilled onions and sour cream are heaven!
Great easy spot for late night food and a beer. Short rib pirogies pan fried are the way to go. And the boiled spinach and cheese.
great dumplings and bigos. extra krout. ps...chloe sevigny is a reg
Crowded but a good value. Try the special and don't forget to visit their pastry case!
Stuffed cabbage. Stuff it down your mouth.
Pierogies are solid. Cold borscht was okay.
Pierogies are solid.
try authentic ukrainian dumplings (pierogi) here. Delicius meal.
Borscht and varenky are definitely the best things here. Very neat and nice little place. Below was a sweet, blueberry varenky (a special) and potato varenky. Very delicious. Great service.
Their Lamb/Feta and Turkey Burgers are love at first sight. Definitely the best burger bun that I have ever tasted. * It's open 24/7 and the service is always quick, professional and cheerful.
The food is really great. The Potato Pancakes, Breakfast Corn Beef Special, Lamb/Feta Burger, the Pierogis, Cabbage Roll and Beef Stroganoff are to die for! The service is prompt and efficient. Enjoy!
I had the Bœf Stroganoff, which was excellent. Add some Sauerkraut. :-)
