They had an awesome Whiskey list and their house made bacons were delicious, but the menu was overpriced and it was very cramped. Would go back only for drinks and bacon, not a meal
Best Restaurant Burger ever!if your stuck btwn shake shack and VW,go for VW if its ur first time in Philly or never been before.I'm from NYCand u gotta try the villageburger. The most juicy tender brgr
Amazing cocktails, especially the Bee Charmer and Commodore. Don't forget to try their fried pickles as well. The space is a bit tiny so it can get a little crowded but it's absolutely wonderful.
Don't be deterred by the waitlist. Leave your name, then catch the bartender's eye and wait in the back til a seat opens up at the bar. Best cocktails in the city.Enjoy an old-fashioned with a burger.
I had the Whiskey wait experience. Not worth doing it again. Drinks = awesome! Waited 3+ hrs to eat at 11:30 pm. Get on the list early to avoid wondering if they forgot to call your cell.
It’s small, it’s crowded, and getting through the door on a busy night can be a nightmare. But nothing in the world pairs quite so well as a $70 pour of whiskey, neat, and a $3 order of tater tots.
The best shrimp and grits I have had outside grandma's kitchen... No frills or foo foo, just straight flavor.. And they even toss in an egg!
I don't live in Philly, but this is easily one of my favorite bars in the world. Great list of whiskey, scotch and rye. Always there after dinner for a rye and cask ale.
The Whiskey King burger is the epitome of decadence. Truly delicious. If you aren't into foie gras however, you can put together your own burger from the variety of available toppings.
Besides the American whiskeys, they have an extensive selection of scotch, and international whiskies, e.g. Kavalan, Amrut Fusion, and some lesser known Japanese whiskies.
Can't go wrong with any of their Prohibition and Prohibition Repeal cocktails. Get the Kentucky Hot Brown, you will not be sorry. Screw it, everything here rocks.
Best burger in Philly hands down. Decadence at its finest. Foie gras, truffled mushrooms, bleu cheese, fried egg and bacon. Bring on the heart attack!
Like many other Garces restaurants (in my experience at least), the service is hit or miss, and often surprisingly rude. It's enough to almost ruin the experience. That said, the food/whiskey rocks.
Get the Whiskey King burger, with foie gras, bacon, bleu cheese, and onions. I wouldn't really EVER say a burger is worth 26 bucks, but, well...it absolutely is.
You cannot go wrong with the grilled chicken sammich. I shit you not it is deliciousness. Do it. Oh and be prepared...those long hots will make you sweat!
OMG the Chicago dog is the best hot dog I've ever had in my life 🙌🏼 and their milkshakes are not to be missed! Amazing staff and service too.
Order the thick-cut, bacon-topped Whiskey King burger from Iron Chef Jose Garces' acclaimed whiskey bar, which earned 2 bells from critic Craig LaBan. You won't be disappointed.
Only worth it for the burgers and whiskey. I don't like either, so I was underwhelmed. Got the pulled pork (decent) and the beer list is good, but there are better options.
At chef Jose Garces's upscale pub, order the eight-ounce Village Burger served on a sesame roll with house-made Thousand Island dressing.
Jose Garces' classic American bar, The Village Whiskey, serves over 80 whiskies and bar foods, like burgers paired with Duck Fat French Fries.
Whiskey and burgers from the Spanish chef behind Amada and Tinto. High end pub grub and a booze and beer selection to explore for hours.
Order the Whiskey King Burger topped with foie gras, bacon and bleu cheese. Get it with a side of duck fat fries. So worth it!
Insane selection of whiskey... Skip it all and try four roses! Village burger and herb cherry tomatoes are also a fantastic addition.
Rumor has it the Whisky King burger is the BEST BURGER EVER... I have not personally had it but their other burgers are fantastic too.
Everyone raves about the burger and the fries -- rightfully so -- but you MUST try their lobster mac and cheese. It is divine.
Don't forget to get a fried egg with your burger. And the amazing Nutella milkshake!!
The burger are, obviously, great. But, the whiskey king is just too much. Stick to the simple fixins and get some tots.
I had the burger sans bun and it was the most amazing thing I've ever eaten. You will not be disappointed!
They're not on the options list but the pickled beets are amazing on the burger. Especially good with a fried egg.
Amazing cocktails! Great burgers, didn't like the cheddar cheese sauce for my fries that much though.
How to get into VW without waiting! Go alone or w/ 1 other person max. Go before 6 pm or after 11 pm.
Good food but adequate on whiskey selections. Good service. A decent beer selection. Try the burgers!
As a vegetarian, I'm biased. But I bet the pickled vegetables are better than the burgers. The tomatoes are my favorite.
Duck Fat Fries are amazing. Get the cheese on the side. Burger was superb. Lobster Mac was delish.
The Whiskey King Burger is worth every penny ($26). Think of it as a gourmet meal, not just a burger.
If you are not staying for dinner, I highly recommend the shortrib and cheese fries. Life changing.
If you don't get the duck fat fries with cheddar sauce and short ribs, you're doing it wrong.
The Whiskey King Burger is present day manna from heaven. You've not sufficiently dined until you try it.
Bloody Mary's are great! Village burger was to die for and the duck fried French fries were amazing!
Good selection. Excellent cocktails and unbelievable duck fat fries!
Limited brunch menu, but a great back up if your original brunch spot has a long line
The de rigeur is delish! As are the fried shrimp, the pickled tomatoes, & the pulled pork sandwich.
