The Washington Street Library is the only library in Cumberland (Maryland, USA) that is more than one story, so it is nice if you want to go upstairs for a quiet place to read or study.
The largest Allegany County Library, this historic building was once connected via underground tunnel to Emmanuel Episcopal Church and offered another escape route for the Underground Railroad.
Have you tried the Mile Movers walking route? Take a right out of the Library. Walk up the road until you get to Brook Avenue. This is 0.5 miles, turn around & head back to the library.
The library is testing out a self checkout service. Stop by to try it out. It's easy!
