Outstanding naturalistic garden. It is the former home of Henry Francis du Pont, an avid antiques collector and horticulturist.
Take the tram tour after paying at the visitors center, then make a house tour.
A great escape. Sunday champagne brunch is to die for.
Become enchanted in a secret garden
Peak bloom for the Azelea Woods is mid-May, usually around Mother's Day.
Walk to the quarry
Gorgeous grounds! Exquisite decor in Winterthur. The Downton Abbey exhibit is a must see. You can skip the lunch at the restaurant...very blah/bland.
You can definitely spend an entire weekend here - wandering the grounds alone is wonderful. Most definitely a seasonal visit is required!!!
The Christmas decor is gorgeous. Sometimes the entertainment.com coupon book has a discount coupon. They also have a childrens' garden which I haven't seen yet.
Take a tour of the house...it is amazing
The Yuletide tour is wonderful.
The downton abbey exhibit was wonderful
A great collection by H.F. du Pont with some interesting furniture pieces he accumulated over twenty years. The Downton Abbey exhibit was interesting even though I know nothing about the show.
Beautiful day. Beautiful estate.
Beautiful grounds and a very impressive house!
A wonderful place to walk around and enjoy the grounds.
A village-size museum of Americana, the collection comprises a chateau with 175 period rooms; a museum holding 85,000 objects and a naturalistic 60-acre garden.
Watch out. Mr. Feisty sometimes splashes a little.
If you plan on visiting as a family more than once a year, get the family membership, it has some nice perks!
it's worth taking your little ones to the enchanted woods to see fairies amd all their magic.
Nice place to know Mr. Du Pont IV
