Our Green Office: Reception area flooring is bamboo, a fast-growing grass. Bamboo requires no pesticides/fertilizers, is low-energy & naturally renewable, is a strong, stable & versatile bldg material
The Roman marble mosaic panel (circa 3rd-4th century A.D.) in the reception area is on loan from Mr. David Weirdsma who saw its similarity to the WRI logo.
WRI's mission is to move human society to live in ways that protect Earth's environment and its capacity to provide for the needs and aspirations of current and future generations.
Our Green Office: The beautiful and unique doors to our main conference room are made from reclaimed barn doors made from near-extinct Virginia Pine which was harvested in the early 20th century.
Our Green Office: Chairs in the reception area use seat belts that are remnants or seconds - material that does not meet stringent standards for cars but is still strong and durable.
Our Green Office: Sensors in light fixtures automatically dim the lights when an office is empty - eliminating the need for wall switches!
Our Green Office: The elevator lobby has flooring made of cork, a natural, renewable, and sustainably harvested material.
Our Green Office: In 2007, WRI was awarded LEED-CI Gold Certification by the U.S. Green Building Council (USBGC).
Our Green Office: In April 2000, WRI’s office space was recognized as one of the top ten best examples of environmentally responsible design solutions by the American Institute of Architects.
Check out the roof labyrinth! Relieve the stress of everyday life by taking some time to walk the labyrinth and meditate.
WRI is a growing organization. Our main reception area is on the 8th floor, but we have staff working on the 5th and 7th floors as well.
