- jon ferrerAugust 23, 2014Best steakhouse in NYC. the porterhouse is the way to go. Don't miss the bacon appetizer. if you're lucky enough to go for lunch, get the burger. It's made from their dry-aged beef and it's only $12!Upvoted Mar 11
- Roberto BuaMarch 21, 2015One of the most genuine places I've ever been to. The steak (Porterhouse) for two was excellent and the waiters made our dinner a fantastic experience. This needs to be your first stop in NYC.Upvoted Feb 3
- EaterJuly 18, 2017It’s unclear what can be said about Pete Luger that hasn’t already been said. It’s a New York institution, and the steaks are damn good. Order the porterhouse.
- Bacon is a must, must, must. Tomatoes and onions are huge. Porterhouse for 2, can't go wrong. Been ordering these dishes for the past few years.
- Simon KratzerDecember 25, 2016Best steak in my life so far. Nice beerhall atmosphere. Just get the steak for x people.
- Bryan LeMarch 19, 2013Amazing. Get "1" steak less than your party. Trust me. 3 grown men, 3 steaks, 3 sides left us aching, highly satisfied, and knowing we only needed 2.
- Emily WilsonDecember 10, 2016You definitely want Canadian bacon. You definitely want some sort of salad. You definitely want the steak for two (rare or bust). And you definitely want to end with the holy cow hot fudge sundae.
- Michael AnthonyOctober 24, 2022Enjoyed the steak a lot, but was underwhelmed with the sides and the ambiance. Potentially a little overhyped, but worth a trip at least once!
- Bin YangDecember 30, 2015Come for the burger during lunch. Otherwise, go nuts on their house dry-aged steak for two or however many people you have. I like mine rare/medium rare, it's that rich in umami. Make reservations!
- Ioannis IliadisJanuary 4, 2018Porter house steaks , lamb chops and bacon strips with their signature sauce . These three are the top flavors to try. Excellent atmosphere but a little bit overpriced ...
- John BurkeFebruary 23, 2018Obviously, the steak is out of this world. Sides too. It has quite a different vibe from a typical steakhouse (wood tables, loud, more beer hall style) but it’s amazing. Totally worth it.
- Christian BanseOctober 23, 2015Try the lunch time-only burger and you won't be disappointed. The onion rings were pretty awesome as well, as is the special Peter Luger steak sauce.
- Emily KaneJuly 13, 2015Yes, you should eat all the steak your body can handle, but make sure you leave enough room for the scrumptious apple strudel with homemade schlag.
- Mike WinstonAugust 5, 2014Dude out with a massive Steak for Two, Sizzling Bacon, Whiskey Rocks, some Creamed Spinach and shovel in an enormous hunk of Cheesecake while you're at it. Read all about it on WinstonWanders below!! Read more
- New York HabitatOctober 21, 2011The best steak in all of New York City. Yes it's expensive and cash only. You have to make reservations far in advance but it will be the best steak you've ever had. The burgers are also fantastic.
- EpicuriousNovember 21, 2014Everything from the butter-bathed porterhouse to the creamed spinach to the onion-sweetened home fries is, in a word, prime. Read more
- Joseph HuppertDecember 29, 2016Fabulous steaks, fabulous German potatoes, fabulous apple strudel. Drinks could be a little more generous, considering that the cost of the drinks, could drive you to drink.
- Micah ChilesAugust 10, 2014Probably under order for your group if you're getting sides. We did steak for 4 with a group of 6 and it was the perfect amount. Must order sides: creamed spinach and bacon
- Village VoiceApril 9, 2015You will be admonished if you order your steak anything other than rare, so it's best to just let the kitchen take control. For sides, creamed spinach, onion rings, & German fried potatoes are a must.
- Ms HeleneApril 22, 2013Over-priced and over-rated. Steak is good and juicy. Salmon was over-cooked. Skip creamed spinach and German potatoes for onion rings and fries. Bacon steak and salad with blue cheese appetizers best!
- maria carrozzaDecember 4, 2015The hamburger on the lunch money is what I go back for all the time. And of course the ice cream sundae. Sharing with the kids proves problematic. I have to order my own.
- Brad GaroonApril 23, 2015Thanks to the decadent bacon, the delicious cheese, the not-too-creamy creamed spinach and the renowned Luger Sauce, Peter Luger Steakhouse's burger is one of the best. Read more
- Super old school and quite casual-old decor, fixtures & bustling atmosphere. Definitely not your typical bougie steakhouse. It's funny I don't consume meat but frequent steakhouses for other varieties
- Village VoiceApril 14, 2015Peter Luger's burger is no frills & all flavor. It offers a thinly charred exterior to a precious pink treasure of its juicy, dry-aged core.Topped with onion, American cheese, & a thick slab of bacon.
- Steak for two medium rare. German potatoes and creamed spinach. If you're feeling fat get a slice of thick cut bacon. It's all so so good. Cash only!
- Alex GuevaraDecember 29, 2012Needless to say, this place is amazing. To not waste your time, obviously the steak is top notch. With that being said don't miss out on the Canadian bacon as an appetizer!! It's a must!
- Elizabeth BursteinAugust 6, 2018Good meat but portion for 2 is enough for 4. Onion rings, sundae, creamed spinach all good!
- Rasheda EdnessNovember 2, 2015I've been to many steak houses and no one beats Lugers. Not only is the steak good but the salad, bacon and bread are just as good. Everything is delicious.
- Tom HalleranMay 2, 2015Worth the trip into Brooklyn to get to this Mecca of steak. Porterhouse, creamed spinach, and a potato, and you'll be happy. Cash only, or get the house credit card (it's free) to look smooth.
- Claire TaylorSeptember 26, 2016Worth the wait and I booked 3 weeks in advance? Portions are huge so don't go crazy. Not keen on their sauce. Steak is perfect without it.
- Jane KatzJune 27, 2017in 2013 I was obsessed but I went last night and my opinion has changed. The steak at Strip House + BLT are (dare I say) better; the vibe and prices are better. I did LOVE the hot fudge sundae tbh
- Saarim ZamanMarch 22, 2017Maybe the best meal in NYC. Start with the bacon and the onion and tomato salad, get the steak rare, some creamed spinach on the side, and finish it off with a hot fudge sundae.
- Oliver NippletwistNovember 16, 2017No doubt a landmark, excellent ambience and best steak ever! Make sure you order the porterhouse.
- Order the powerhouse. It is the best in NY. A good bottle of Malbec will pair perfect with this juicy and great flavor steak. Ill try to make it once a month. 🍷🍷❤️❤️
- Cook.Eat.Drink.Yum .comJanuary 11, 2018Super flavorful and tender steak and the steak sauce compliments the meat well. The thick cut bacon was amazing I could have had 3 pieces! Definitely, a must have when in NYC.
- Cole KennedyJanuary 21, 2023Good experience, and honestly a $22-ish cheeseburger isn’t all that expensive nowadays, but you only need to do it once, in my opinion.
- Bay McLaughlinDecember 20, 2016Insane. Everything was off the charts. Don't order too much. Start with the steak and order sides as needed.
- Trae FFebruary 23, 2020A NY institution that is sure to please. Had a delicious meal and fun time. Did not experience any of the issues Pete Wells did. Bring a wad of cash or your debit card and get ready to drop a bundle.
- Jackie LedanyJuly 25, 2015Onion rolls. Apps: shrimp cocktail, bacon, tomatoes & onions. Main course: steak, German potatoes, creamed spinach, fries. Dessert: holy cow hot fudge sundae, chocolate mousse cake, cheesecake, gelt.
- Rafaela ComunelloNovember 8, 2014Really nice burger! Ask for the bacon also. If the line is too big, get a place on the bar, have your meal right there and have a nice talk to the bartender. Make a reservation.
- Kate FurmanMarch 12, 2017Porterhouse steak, creamed spinach, and if you're here for lunch, the Lugar Burger!! Make a reservation if possible.
- Eneida Selina SantosOctober 13, 2013Been to this place when I was a kid with my mom and stepfather. The place is a great place for tourist who vist NYC, especially the Williamsburg. Brooklyn area. If you love steak, hashbrowns, potatoes
- Richie StarkAugust 25, 2015Have had the burger&bacon, but not the steak. I'll vouch for the burger: it's a sizable, juicy beast, with pretty good flavor. Loved the thick cut bacon.
- Ben K.November 30, 2012You MUST get the bacon. The steak portions are large so be careful how you order, Steak for Four easily feeds six people. Don't forget to leave room for apple strudel with schlag for dessert!
- M KJuly 24, 2012Do yourself a favor & get a the Luger-Burger for lunch, with cheese. Get tomatos & onion, bacon, and fries for the table. You won't be disappointed by the best burger in the city. Make a reservation.
