- As far as I can tell, this is the only place in SF where you can get a proper pint of REAL ale, pumped from the cask and served at cellar temperature. My absolute favorite. Brits rejoice!Upvoted Mar 17
- Lindsay EyinkDecember 19, 2014Almost certainly named after Magnolia Thunderpussy, a previous establishment named after the owner. She was a SF icon who was a burlesque dancer whose restaurant served "erotic desserts".
- Zachary CrockettOctober 6, 2018Dark beer enthusiasts: If the Conflagration imperial red ale is on cask get a glass!! I'd recommend a growler except, reasonably, they don't do growlers from cask. Petty Oligarch porter is also great.
- AFAR MediaAugust 12, 2014Magnolia's has delicious meals & appropriate morning samosa's. Drop by during breakfast for some delicious french toast or fried eggs over quinoa and vegetables with freshly squeezed grapefruit juice. Read more
- Gsus S.S.June 12, 2023Love Haight Ashbury atmosphere! Cool gastrobar in the heart of the neighborhood, the Kalifornia Kölsch is superb. Tasty bratwurst and chicken wings. Friendly attention as well…
- Kaela StuartAugust 12, 2014Great neighborhood spot on Haight for meeting up with friends. Beer selection is awesome. Food is quite good - their homemade duck pasta is outtathisworld. Be warned - there is usually a wait to sit.
- Benjy WeinbergerAugust 10, 2014English breakfast is pretty good, if a tad too salty. Jen really liked the chicken hash, and the French toast looks so amazing I wish I had ordered it...
- Todd BidaOctober 15, 2018Great neighborhood place to eats dinner in Haight...If you're in town on Thursdays, don't miss the fried chicken here... earlier is better as they do run out!

- Pavan KulkarniMarch 5, 2017Ambience is pretty rustic old style . Decent draft beer list. Loved their IPAs . Get the Bombay nuts and maitake mushroom. The veggie pot pie was pretty good too.
- JonJuly 21, 2014This place is awesome. Great beer, great food, great atmosphere. Highly recommended. Proving Ground IPA is hugely drinkable, too. Easy to get a table when I visited on a Sunday at 8pm.
- The steak and eggs are amazing (brunch). **Tables outside are first come first serve - skip the long wait and enjoy the entertaining scenery of the Haight.
- Paige CMay 30, 2018This is a very bold statement, but these may be the best fries I’ve ever had! The burger was awesome too!
- Chris H.December 24, 2016This place is known for their burger and it did not disappoint. Fries were great, too.
- Love this place. The food is fantastic - in particular, the chicken hash at brunch and the shortrib sandwich...well, anytime. Get their Tillies beer. So fresh and so clean.
- Luke AndrewsDecember 27, 2014One of the only places in SF you'll find a proper cask ale. If you've ever enjoyed beer from a proper pub in Britain, find the cask menu and order a bitter.
- Brunch here is great and their beer goes great with everything!
- Tanner ChristensenAugust 30, 2015Grab a beer at the bar or a burger in a booth, either way prepare for good flavor and a lively atmosphere.
- Ali AndersonNovember 30, 2014Best IPA in town. In expensive craft beer, in/outdoor seating, awesome cheese & meat plates
- Great beers, fresh oysters and definitely get the chicken habanero sausage! The apple pie is delicious too.
- Great beer brewed on site. For breakfast don't miss the Brown Sugar Peppercorn Bacon. The Devils on Horseback are a great appetizer for dinner.
- Jonathan RobinsonDecember 28, 2012They have a large selection of their beers from the cask, meaning they are less carbonated, served at a warmer temp than from draught (55 vs 47 degrees). Trad English style
- Fikri FıratMay 28, 2017Craft English-inspired beer. If you are visiting Height for shopping, definitely take a stop there and relax with great beer
- Alejandro VizioMay 5, 2014The best two beers I have ever tasted! Kalifornia Kolsch & New Speedway Bitter, really really good. The food is also DA BOMB!
- Alice MAugust 9, 2015Exceptional English style beers! Order a flight if you want to try something new.
- The menu changes often but know this: if there is anything with duck on the menu (pâté, confit, etc.) just get it. I love this spot.
- Julie GodonOctober 11, 2012Comfy leather seats & great beer selection. I tried the home made lamb sausages and pomegranate cider. Awesome!

- Shuzhen LinOctober 4, 2012The spicy wings are really good. Pair them with a beer to make for a real satisfying meal
- love/hate this place. food is bomb. beer is bomb. service...not so much bomb. don't expect to get a massage or even a smile sometimes. dude with the beard and the hat is cool though.
- Amazing food and amazing beer. The devils on horseback are the best small plate you can find.
- Must have "Spring Ravioli" which has snap peas, fromage blanc, pioppini mushrooms, watercress-pumpkin seed pesto & squash blossom. I can't believe I haven't had it before. My favorite dish now.
- Kathy McKinnonDecember 11, 2015The wine was great! The fish and chips we good, but the tartar sauce was strange, like a Caesar dressing without the Parmesan, garlic or black pepper?!?!?!?
- Sam FederAugust 18, 2013Everything here was delicious. The steak and eggs was cooked to perfect and the French Press was creamy and smooth.
- Fish and chips are the real deal. Wash it down with a root beer float and some awesome craft beer
- Scotch quail eggs are delicious! Literally just two eggs though, not a lot of food.
- Lindsay KrellJune 30, 2013You can always order half pints if you want to drink a few different beers, but want to be able to walk in a straight line once you leave.
