The baked clams are a "don't miss" dish & so is the chicken francese. The pork chops with peppers (sweet or hot, or both) is the city's most perfect evocation of that dish. Read more

Order the pork with peppers, baked clams, and spaghetti with meatballs. Also, the wine list has lately been tinkered with to highlight Central Italian wines, but the food will still have you dreaming. Read more

For red-sauce Italian, Bamonte's can't be beat. Order the veal scaloppine and the homemade manicotti. Three course meals range $28- $40; always call ahead to make a reservation. [Eater 38 Member]

It may not be the best iteration of classic Italian food, but Bamonte’s has no comparison for the history, the soul, and warmth that pours out of the space.

This century-old temple of red sauce somehow has managed to remain more or less unchanged even as Williamsburg has transformed around it. Let’s hope it sticks around for at least another 100 years. Read more

Classic authentic Italian, pricier than the south Brooklyn joints I was raised on but doesn't skimp on portions!

You'll likely enjoy dishes like stuffed artichokes and the "Pork Chop Bamonte." But make sure to enjoy a postprandial espresso-and-sambuca — it's the original Brooklyn combo.

Classic NYC Italian restaurant where everything is devoted to The Family. The wall decorations too. It's quite charming and the food and wine are great too.

It's easy to see how this place has been in business 115 years and counting. Signature service, great Italian home cooking, and reasonable prices. #winning

Mussels Marinara, Baked Clams and Pork Chops with Red & Hot Peppers. Their RED sauce is the bomb but the pasta dishes didn't do much for me, wish it was cooked al dente.

Pork chop parmesan was delicious. Overall, the food isn’t sensational. It’s more about the old school vibes. Good place to get a big table.

Established 1900. Original chandeliers to mid-century paneling to a modern glassed-in kitchen. Classic Italian immigrant appetizers and entrees, since before NY saw its first pizzerias.
