Truly some of the best sushi in New York. Get the omakase and sit back and enjoy. But be warned this is a special occasion meal. If you indulge it may end up costing 4-5 hundred dollars!

Each sushi piece on the omakase menu has a unique twist and delicious. My fave was the snowcrab topped with uni. You start out wondering if you'll ever be full but we were satisfied after 9 pieces.

SKIP shabby decor, rude svc + dining in @ this Gari OG shop in UES. Instead, order $65 Gari Special - a mini-omakase w/ 8 of Gari’s star sushi pcs, Chopped Toro w/ Pickled Radish roll & Red Miso soup

As someone who grew up next to a sushi bar in LA and has been a connoisseur since 5, I can say that this is by-far the best sushi I've had in NYC. Sit at the bar and order omakase and a nice saké.

Did you know? Sushi of Gari is one of the only restaurants in the US where you can try out the TOTO Washlet S350e toilet seat (a Japanese bidet). It's true luxury (for your butt).

I had the snobby misconception that sushi should just be fish and sushi rice. gari smashed those expectations. I've never tasted toppings used in such a creative manner without diminishing the fish

The original location of Masatoshi “Gari” Sugio's chainlet is still one of the best sushi restaurants in NYC. Start with an omakase tasting, finish with the tempura-fried ice cream. [Eater 38 Member]

Awesome sushi and sashimi with a modern twist. One of the best in NY. Order the omakase and be prepared for the chef to send out his finest. We loved the kanpachi with jalapeño sauce. Read more

Ask for the iPad to scroll through different sushi pieces. Stick to the sushi pieces if you are a real sushi lover. And get the spicy scallop roll or hand roll.

When I arrive in Manhattan, I’m always looking to find that perfect late night (jet lagged) treat, this was absolutely the dream! Great flavours for a pretty penny, but absolutely worth it!

Best Gari out of the 3 locations. Ask for availability at the sushi bar when making a reservation. Order the omakase if it's your first time to find out which pieces are your favorites.

The Omakase was terrific, 22 pieces of sushi in all, with a foie gras that just melts in your mouth in between, the only thing is that some of the pieces were just different versions of the same fish.
