- Dave MorinAugust 15, 2011Be sure to have the queso. This is the only place in NorCal where you can get authentic TexMex queso.
- Jeff WeinsteinDecember 27, 2016This is not a place for dinner. Sit at the bar, nibble on nachos, and get involved with the bartenders. Know your exits.
- Elizabeth BursteinFebruary 15, 2017Be careful as the cheese and chips can get too salty. Be prepared to sleep in and laze around the next day if you have the margarita ;)
- Benjy WeinbergerMay 27, 2015The queso mucho is the way to go. Everything is better when you put chorizo and guac in it.
- Can’t go wrong with the queso. My top two entrees are the shrimp enchiladas and the burrito, which is big enough to share.
- CarolineApril 21, 2011Everything I've had to eat here is delicious...especially the margaritas. Actually, I only really remember the margaritas, and just barely.
- JohnMay 30, 2013Go for the TRIFECTA!!!! = watermelon margherita, velvet nachos, and cactus enchiladas! Oh yeah and don't forget to bring the hipster.
- Kasia MolendaSeptember 1, 2013The spicy queso is a table staple. Don't even think about not getting it. I had the Tacos Valentina's and they were delish too
- Solid food and unusually easy to get a large table on a short notice. Great chips and margaritas.
- Marissa CAugust 10, 2018Strong margaritas, neighborhood vibe, chill and unpretentious bar scene. Haven't tried food
- Kim OwensOctober 19, 2012I'm a huge fan of mole sauce, when it's done right. These guys do it right. And the servers are pretty saucy as well.
- Great for birthdays as they can handle decent sized groups. Plus the honoree gets a flaming dessert!
- Ros HodgekissNovember 16, 2012A great spot to wind down after big night - big plates of Tex-Mex and a red interior that is unbearably Twin Peaks -like when you're drunk.
- Elijah ColpittsDecember 30, 2014This place was awesome. Cheap pitchers of margarita and wonderful atmosphere
- Linda YangJuly 2, 2016I liked the spicy chicken soup and Paloma cocktail (grapefruit and tequila). Chips and salsa were subpar. Fish tacos are battered and meh.
- Alden CatesJanuary 22, 2017Most delicious and authentic Mexican food. Service can be slow (seems they're under-staffed at times.)
- Elizabeth AgnewAugust 19, 2014Velvet Cantina has the best nachos and strongest margaritas in the mission! Mmmm... Creamy cheese sauce...
- Ualtar O'ReganAugust 12, 2018Make a reservation! Come y bebe con gusto! Leave a generous tip! ( ; - )
- Try the fresh fruit margarita! They're seasonal but go for the raspberry if available!
- Dave ZissouMarch 14, 2013the ceviche was very nOice, and if you stop by here, have a margarita for me.
- Smoking Basil cocktail is the spicy cocktail drank in the house
- Chris H.December 24, 2016Great chips and salsa, but everything else is pretty mediocre. Drinks are pretty bad as well
- Enjoy the food and turn your flash off if you're taking pictures!
- they make good margaritas.... buuut with tequila jimador, so careful with the hangover or make sure to ask them to use another tequila....
- Justin WJuly 22, 2013Slow service food was just OK & everything is cooked in butter. Pretty greasy. In summer very hot, no fans outside under the canopy. Probably won't go back. :(
- Rob AtkinsonOctober 30, 2016Somewhat mediocre but stock standard Mexican. Margaritas gave me a headache the next day
- kristine molnarJanuary 23, 2010DANGER! Deliciously tasty Margaritas that pack a punch. Order a pitcher and enjoy the trouble you find yourself in.
