If you want a taste of Mexico, this is the place to be. Delicious food and vendors to buy souvenirs. I recommend La Golondrina, which is the oldest restaurant on Olvera Street. Visit Plaza Park!

Walking down here will show you what LA used to look like before Hollywood existed. It was the first street in LA, and it is a great place to experience some of the local history, and Latino culture.

It is a weird place, and gives you a great sense of an idealized version of an old Mexican bustling market street. But you have a churro and drink a Horchata and settle into looking around.
