- Erica MeerbachAugust 24, 2013Everyone should definitely come and see the Rocky Horror Picture Show every friday night because Lips Down On Dixie is an amazing cast full of amazing people!!!
- Naveen ApApril 6, 2014Get front row seats or corner ones ... The floor is not sloping n is almost flat so the person in front will surely block ur view of the screen ! But the theatre gives u an old school feel :)
- New ownership drastically changing this once great historic landmark. Business model is strictly corporate; no more arcade, no Spookshow, art deco charm all gone. Not to mention the longtime staff.
- Georgia’s oldest operating indie and art house theater. Art Deco 1920’s vibe, but with mod gear/sound. Constant rotation of classics and new releases. One my fav spots in the city!
- Jim SwilleyJanuary 23, 2014I love when Plaza shows classics! I've watched 'Meet Me in St. Louis' a bazillion times, but seeing it on the big screen last night was like seeing it for the first time...nothing like it...
- Gabe SmithMay 2, 2013They don't make 'em like this anymore. A great blast from the past for nerds of many stripes - come early for the cartoons. And bring quarters for the retro arcade.
- Chad ElkinsFebruary 14, 2011Spend some time checking out all of the wonderful old movie posters that adorn the walls inside the main entrance. Also, be sure to check out the great collection of old school arcade games.
- Follow on Facebook to get latest announcement re films coming in. Schedule is not always listed far in advance, especially one-time showings.
- One of the best theatres in the country. They support film and the local arts.
- Beautiful theater. Deeply rooted in A Town history. AND the popcorn is salty and buttery throughout! ;)
- ScoutmobNovember 28, 2011The Plaza Theatre is Atlanta's oldest continuously operating cinema; it opened in 1939 as an art deco theatre and then was an X-rated adult cinema & live burlesque show in the '70s (until 1983).
- jayceeMay 12, 2010One of Atlanta's few truly historic landmarks. You MUST go see the weekly Rocky Horror Shows where you can physically do the Time Warp with men in corsets and stilettos ...simply fun & amazing!
- Oakland CemeteryFebruary 14, 2011Plaza opened its doors in 1939 & is the oldest continuously operated cinema in Atlanta. A non-profit Foundation was created to restore the theatre, promote independent film, & support the local arts. Read more
- Actually, no, you CAN'T buy tickets early for Rocky Horror unless it's Halloween weekend. That's also the only weekend it sells out. Just get here by 11 any Friday night. you should have no problem.
- Hippest theater in the city. They get a lot of stuff after Tara and MAC, but a lot of exclusives and the cult movie events are amazing!
- Lewis JamesFebruary 22, 2015Movies are good, but you have to walk up stairs to get to one theater. The heating fans are loud and distract from the movie.
- Support a historic theatre and benefit the Plaza Theatre Foundation each time you buy a movie ticket or make a purchase.
- See "The Room" the last tuesday of the month, or "Rocky Horror Picture Show" every friday! Both are excellent films that encourage participation!
- Justin MoranteJuly 15, 2011Saw Evangelion 2.22 here and Trigun: Badlands Rumble here. This theatre is so cool. Definitely worth the 45 minute drive.
- Diana ChastainSeptember 10, 2011LDOD is performing a Friday AND Saturday night showing of Rocky Horror this Halloween. Remember when you check on foursquare you get a free raffle ticket.
- Monica RandklevSeptember 22, 2012Bring cash. The phone lines were down and the ATM ran out of money. But everything else rocks.
- Always watch The Rocky Horror Picture Show here on Fridays at 12 midnight.
- ScoutmobNovember 28, 2011The Plaza Theatre shopping center was the first "mall" in Atlanta to have off-street parking.
- Corky HendersonMarch 22, 2013I haven't been here in over 10 years...very interesting...rather vintage
- Go see The Room. The only theater in Atlanta that shows it monthly. It's fantastic.
- Holly BApril 28, 2010Watch put for the salt shakers....It comes out fast and identifes you as a newbie.
- Fo-lulu-ke OyemadeNovember 21, 2010Nice historic place but it would be cool if the seats were upgrade a little.
- Jennifer BOctober 30, 2010Don't believe them when they say u can't buy tix early & they never sold out for RHPS - they do & it does! Buy tix 4 RHPS early.
