- Brandon F.December 10, 2015Apparently one of the first Vietnamese restaurants in the city. In business for over forty years; you can't go wrong with anything here. Awesome grub for the price.
- Martin AnguloFebruary 9, 2018Combo 5 is a must! You get a little bit of all the different meats. Enough for two meals! Make sure to have cash on you. They do not accept credit cards.
- Domenic ViterboSeptember 21, 2013It's a tiny place & the food, IMHO, is not real authentic Vietnamese, but there's comfort to their cooking. Sit at the counter, chat it up with its owner, & relax with the Number 1 entree.
- Morgan MickFebruary 1, 2022Definitely a must go cash only hole in the wall in nob hill. The cooks are super sweet but you may have to wait for a seat at the small counter inside. #5 is a huge portion and I love the garlic tofu
- Mike WinstonSeptember 9, 2014Get enormous, cheap platters of rice & fire-roasted chicken at this Vietnamese hole-in-the-wall. Anything other than chicken & you're making a mistake. Read all about it on WinstonWanders below!! Read more
- Timothy HongJune 7, 2017Super cheap hole in the wall, very friendly service, community feel. Don't go if you're in a rush. Cash only. Tasty but not particularly healthy.
- Q LamApril 2, 2014The grilled chicken is really good. You might want to try #4 (grilled chicken on rice) without the "meat" sauce and instead get it with white rice and fish sauce over the chicken.
- Everyone in Nob Hill knows this cute hole in the wall. Definitely a local word of mouth favourite. Bring cash. Be friendly to the cook.
- Damian BayonaJune 15, 2015Delicious Vietnamese grill and BYO. Small place with seating for only a dozen people. Worth the wait. Highly recommend.
- Charles BSeptember 21, 2011This might be my favorite spot in the entire bay area. Saddle up at the counter and let her cook you up a #5 so you get a bit of everything. $8 feeds a family here.
- Best hole in the wall restaurant in SF. Best under $10 meal in SF. Just go and order the #5.
- Delicious, no frills Vietnamese food. Huge portions and so god damn cheap. Imperial rolls FTW. Cash only.
- Chris TJuly 28, 2015Big and yummy bobun (noodle in the menu). Good prices. Seat at the counter and ask for chopsticks.
- Trevor HillJune 11, 2016#5 is the way to go. A little bit of everything that ends up being a lot of food. Great value
- Get the #5 (five spice chicken, kebabs, imperial roll, rice with meat sauce) and be prepared for leftovers. Cash only!
- Ken MontgomeryAugust 15, 2011True story - this place was put on the map in '85 when Coke went to New Coke. Herb Caen mentioned in column it was ONLY place in US to get original Coke in bottle. That day, line down the block!
- Gotta love a place where the "vegetarian" option ma pao tofu has minced pork
- Cherylynn NoronaOctober 6, 2011#5: Imperial Roll is HUGE and deliciously crispy, Charbroiled Chicken is super moist and juicy, BBQ Pork is dry and Meat Sauce is savory sweet goodness!
- James JOctober 25, 2014Katie is awesome! #5 is perfectly moist and delicious and reasonably priced. So good.
- Sarah LizMarch 20, 2013The #5 hits the spot. Chicken breast or leg with an imperial roll, cabbage, rice and their special sauce.
- Rushil GoelJanuary 31, 2015Can't believe I didn't know about this place.. #5 is out of this world. The meat sauce is to die for
- glenn goldmanApril 8, 2011#5 is my favorite and the noodle salad w chix is bangin. But don't fear the garlicky tofu. Takes 30 min to make, but worth the wait on occasion
- Eve HamiltonMarch 25, 2013Best food around, especially if you're on a budget! Totally keeps and makes delicious leftovers.
- Jennie YangNovember 16, 2013Hidden gem - delectable ma po tofu! Vermicelli dish too. Cheap as well. Nom nom nom.
- Kyle CooneyMay 14, 2011The #5 is delicious, chicken is amazing and the rice with meat sauce is one of my favorite dishes in the city

- Tim KojetinNovember 4, 2012The 5 spice chicken is insane. Any menu item that involves this is a big win.
- Katarina TApril 17, 2013Asian conFusion, but that's ok cause it's still a satisfying meal. Huge portions. Cash only.
- Call Ahead! With only 10 spots to sit, its sometimes better to enjoy this amazing food at home.
- glenn steinerJune 18, 2013I've been eating at Cordon Blue for forty years with consistently the best and more reasonable Vietnamese food in the City. Humble but absolutely fantastic food. Try the #1 or the #5.
- WARNING!!! Chicken NO COOK inside still RAW. CUT the chicken HALF LOOK INSIDE make sure!
- Store open @ 11.30 & if you want call for to go is better call @12 noon, good luck
- Did you know that you can bring your own beer? You can. Try Larkin Market around the corner for a good enough selection.
- Best noodle salad I've had anywhere, though my bf says anything other than the #5 is sacrilege.
- Zack BaileyMarch 29, 2010Go for the #5 and taste a bit of everything. You'll be incredibly full for <$5.
