- Bon Appetit MagazineJune 1, 2016Before hitting the store, fuel up on a pastry or sandwich at their café next door: Even if you’re only going in for a single absinthe spoon (yes, they have that, too), you’ll want to look for hours. Read more
- Jamil ToureMay 1, 2012Take a class here, if only to cook on their restaurant quality stoves. Classes I fully recommend are any taught by Kaumudi Marathe of UnCurry (un-curry.com). She is great & you will eat well after ; )
- Jamil ToureMay 1, 2012Any serious cook will love the cookware selection. This is restaurant quality stuff at good prices! The coffee, bakery & lunches are seriously addictive! Try caneles or biscuits in the baked goods.
- The StandardJuly 25, 2011CA (Eat,Shop) One the best kitchen supply stores in the world. If you're looking for something specific, chances are Surfas has it! Their cafe is great, too- the sandwiches and salads are delish
- Cupcakes and CashmereAugust 28, 2011Stock up on pretty cupcake liners, fun cookie cutters, and seriously good Valrhona chocolate. Also, they now carry Jeni's ice cream (my favorite is the Salty Caramel).
- Awesome place for people who appreciate restaurant grade kitchen stuff (or I suppose if you own a restaurant...)
- Lil KJuly 12, 2013Cooks/chefs... If you are looking for something in particular- it's best to call ahead to make sure they have it in stock.
- Sheri BurgessMarch 27, 2012The cheese dept. Needs to use proper tools. You don't cut blue cheese w a knife and they should be cutting harder cheeses w a wire . Hello wake up!!
- Matthew KellerMay 10, 2011Try the lobster club panini, if you're a lobster roll fan: not too indulgent @ this size but no less delicious.
- YunildaFebruary 8, 2010Had the most amazing fig and brie panini. Beautifully made with pesto and marinated fresh grape tomatoes. Melts all together in a bite of heavenly goodness.
- Hilary CableDecember 3, 2010An amazing, but somewhat unreliable supplier of cookware. Example: Could not find an 8" cake pan w/removable bottom. Call ahead to make sure they have what you need.
- Mucho Comida™August 23, 2013Some nice selections, but missing key items. Plus a little overpriced. Just my professional opinion. Enjoy.

- Maya ConnSeptember 24, 2014Extremely disappointed. I came here looking for a specialty item. It appeared that either they were out of it or did not carry it. I very nicely asked but all I got was attitude.

- Robert BrillSeptember 11, 2013Failure. Apparently if you get sick and have to cancel no one knows how to - or is authorized to - or can manage a refund or rescheduling. Maybe should have gone there with a strep throat instead.
- John SladeJanuary 30, 2010Cafe Surfas has Faygo sodas. The treat of childhood for countless middle westerners.
