The best time you can have in New York for free! Hilarious and also cool to see how the show is put together. Bring a jacket - so cold!

Quite a few people made it in and arrived shortly after 5 pm. We came in earlier and took advantage of the D'agostino's nearby for restrooms and food

Steven (yes, we're on a first name basis) is an awesome host in person. Don't worry if you get a blue ticket, not a bad seat in the house.

Great experience! Get there earlier for a better seat and get ready to wait for a while! Totally worth it!

Get here early (before 4:45) because seating is determined mainly by ticket order. Bring a book and a snack... The wait is LONG, but Stephen does not disappoint!

If you're a guest on the show, or a friend of one and tag along, you get to meet Stephen Colbert (the real one, not the character). Do it!

You're treated like cattle until you get in the studio. Bring something to read while you're in the queue, sustenance will help too. And think of a good question for out of character Stephen. Read more

Stephen Colbert is ridiculous! I can't stop laughing! AND his studio is located in Hell's Kitchen. It's like taking a trip home. ;-)

A buddy is Colbert's brother-in-law. It is accepted wisdom that Stephen is only the third funniest person in his family. Stephen's drive for success comes from getting his butt kicked by his sisters.

Check-in is at 6, though they recommend you arrive at least 15 min before that. They overbook significantly. Do NOT show up at 5:45! Show up at 4pm! Line was already forming around this time.

Fun show to see live! Come prepared with questions for Stephen Colbert. He does a Q & A before the show.
