Named for the long-defunct newspaper, the NY Herald, if you’ve been to Macy’s on 34th Street, you’ve probably passed through the square without even knowing. Subway, shopping (Macy's and so much more), Koreatown, etc. They have a great outdoors food court during the summer worth checking out.
You've gotta visit Herald Square at least one time on a visit to NYC.

Go to Macy’s or enjoy Wafels & Dinges at the Plaza. Great place for people watching.
It's better now that they've created more pedestrian space but generally packed with tourists.
