Don't stand one stair away from someone on the escalator unless you're family or dating. Otherwise, you're in my personal space, especially if you have the world's giantest bag!

On the DC Metro's Red Line. Has 2 entrances--north (Q St.) and south (19th St.). Make sure you know which exit you want. Most popular is the Q St north exit.

Escalators: right side is for walking left side is for standing...when they're operating of course.
On warm sunny days & snowy winters: this is the cultural hub of the city.
Watch for escalator breakdowns they are all too frequent

These will be the only working escalators for a while.
Avoid like the plague on weekends - no ac and always single tracking.
