11/10 would recommend. The Intrepid is the pinnacle of naval history. It fought in WW2; fought in Nam w/ McCain flying jets off of it; and was the command center during 9/11. Truly inspiring.
One of the best museums in New York, crawl all over a carrier including the bridge and planes, climb through a submarine, get up close to the Space Shuttle Enterprise, visit Concorde - amazing.
Best museum so far in NYC. A lot to see from the aircraft carrier, to drone exhibit and walking inside a submarine. Great experience. We squeezed a visit in 1h30m but you might want to take more time.
Classic World War display with amazing fighters and classic aircrafts. On top of that, you still can see the historic Enterprise Space Shuttle and the Concord.
What a great museum! There is something for everyone here. You probably cannot see it all in one day. We let the kids lead the way based on their interests.
This is a must for any aviation/maritime enthusiasts. Nice selection of aircraft and all on a carrier that saw action during WWII (Kamikaze strikes) — decommissioned in the 70’s.
Visit the space shuttle Enterprise. It was the 1st orbiter built & began service in 1977. Designed to be an atmosphere and ground test vehicle, it never saw space flight.
Got a Groupon that included admission and a tour. We chose the WWII tour! Kevin used maps to illustrate a pretty complicated campaign, super effective and a wonderful experience!
Be sure to book at least a day to explore this place, it's humungous. Such a great day, but don't come the flight deck if it is extremely cold, it isn't too pleasant! The staff are very friendly.
Also, their summer movie nights are a must-do at least once. Incredible view, great movie choices, and free! I really enjoyed it a - well worth the trip to NY for the night. Info on their website.
The Flight Deck at the Intrepid museum holds most of Intrepid's collection of authentically restored aircraft and also facilitates the Space Shuttle Pavilion, which holds the space shuttle Enterprise.
Space shuttle, Submarine, Jet Planes, War ships, F-16, Concord... Awesome place! A must-see for anyone visiting New York or even New Yorkers. Really all y'all need is to come here and check it out
When you come to the Museum, be sure to purchase access to the Space Shuttle Pavilion, which now features our temporary exhibition, HUBBLE@25! http://bit.ly/ZfFzDk
The museum’s staple attraction is the aircraft carrier Intrepid, which was used in World War II, The Cold War, and The Vietnam War until its decommission in 1974. Read more
Make sure to check out the huge Lego model, it's a little obscured by the big screens in the entrance but it's got a ton of little details. Super cool!
You should go for the chance to walk around an aircraft carrier, a nuclear deterrent submarine, and see a space shuttle, Concorde and other aircraft. Unforgettable
If you get the chance, attend a concert or a movie screening on the deck of this amazing museum. It’s magical. We also love exploring the insides of this historical gem.
After a 2-year leave for restoration and renovation, the Intrepid Museum now boasts new exhibits, interactive elements, newly opened areas of the ship, and a completely restored aircraft collection.

Great museum. Lots of history (although it lacks some facts, specifically the not so US-glorifying facts). Interesting war machinery, a Concord, a submarine, even a space shuttle...
We have several upcoming events happening in August, including a free screening of Top Gun on the Flight Deck (8/15) and the Former Crew Member Homecoming weekend, Aug 16-18. Read more

Don't miss the kamikaze show! It's in the middle of the lower level of the intrepid and is easy to miss. It plays every hour and is worth waiting around for!
We just opened two new exhibitions, On the Line: Intrepid and the Vietnam War and City at Sea: USS Intrepid, which is produced in partnership with the National Endowment for the Humanities! Read more
The intrepid does movie nights during the summer. Pretty awesome, and free! Get in line early -- they start handing out tickets @ 6:30p and it's first come first serve. Bring a picnic but no booze :(
Join the will call queue to get in early on busy days. If you forgot to buy online, you can still join the general queue after the security check. Yeah. But don't forget because they are $2 cheaper.
Excellent for history buffs. Amazing to see and experience the air craft carrier, submarine, see the space shuttle. Wow! Just loved it and learned a lot.
Buy your ticket online to avoid the queue. I waited about 15/20 minutes to get in. You cannot get inside the concord unless you pay 20 USD for the guided tour.
Come really early if you wish to see and listen to everything. Don't bother buying tickets for the G-Force encounter though, the simulation lags and joysticks are badly calibrated.
Wonderful to visit. Lots to do and see. Real life experience of the past icons. Shuttle must bigger than expected. Concorde smaller than expected. Glad I could see it in real life.
Just a great interactive & educational journey for all ages. What a way to honor our heroes, educate the public and inspire our youth! took my son for Memorial day - wow - goosebumps.
Every day at 10:30am, 12:30pm, 2:30pm, and 4:30pm, Intrepid Educators lead free, interactive demonstrations in the Space Shuttle Pavilion. Join us for fun scientific exploration!
Come by on Saturday for Yankees Radio Network FanFest, on Intrepid Museum's Pier 86. All activities on the Pier are free and Museum Admission is required for the Museum and Space Shuttle Pavilion. Read more
Cool museum for military buffs. Seemed like a decent amount for the kiddos too. Others may not be impressed. Cool plane selection relative to similar museums.
Budget your time to get through crowds at the entrance. Particularly if you're in a big group, you can be waiting in line for quite awhile, depending on the time of day. Mid-morning took awhile!
Purchase your tickets online and choose will call. It will save you a lot of time because the lines are very long and it's always crowded to purchase when you get here.
"A fully functional aircraft carrier ship + submarine + planes (Concorde, helicopters, Space Shuttle, etc.) – what’s not to love? Don't miss the yearly screening of Top Gun on the flight deck."
