- CTA Passengers: MOVE TOWARD THE CENTER OF ALL TRAINS AND BUSES! Standing in the doorways so more passengers cannot get on is crazy rude. Just be courteous. :)Upvoted 23 hours ago
- Blue line is all the way downstairs. Red line is 2 blocks east on State (follow the traffic on Lake Street). Every other line in town is up on the elevated tracks.
- Peter DykstraFebruary 13, 2013Climb up into the parking garage down the street for a great top-down view of the railway intersection at Lake & Wells. (sorry for the broken link, can't remove) Read more
- Avoid the elevator if you can help it. Otherwise hold your breath upon entering. It stinks of urine!
- 22 and 24 stop here. It's the beginning of the route for the 24 so it's nice to get on while the bus waits to leave.
- If the lines to O'Hare are obscene, hop on a Forest Park train and go 1-2 stops to get on a train before the madness. Works every time.
- One of the busier stations of the CTA. It connects the Blue Line (a subway) to several elevated lines.
- Count on one of the escalators being broken at most times. Also, STAND ON THE RIGHT, PASS ON THE LEFT. The escalator isn't a ride!!
- If you're going west on the Green Line after about 10:00, I've generally found that it's a good idea to board the front car (with the conductor). Better safe than sorry...
- If you exit through the Thompson Center, there's a touch-free pump of hand sanitizer near the escalators. Use it!
- There's something in the air at this station...it renders people useless - left stammering about, weaving left and right at a snail's pace. STOP CHECKING UR PHONES/DIGGING IN UR BAGS & WALK! ;)
- On Saturdays trains don't start running till about 5:00. With the exception of the blue line.
- One of the busiest stops that also allows you to transfer to all other lines (except red)
- Use the Blue Line elevator at your own risk. It always stinks of urine!
- Elevators are very slow and full of urine. If they were faster, it would give people less time to pee and both problems would be.solved.
- You can catch the Blue line in the subway and the green, brown, orange and pink lines on the upper level.
- The escalator railings are sanitized by UV so hang on tight!
- Clearly the renovation of this station is a union job. They have been working on it for at least 5 years. It's not the pyramids boys.
- The monitors by the Blue Line trains display arrival times. Be sure to keep an eye on those.
- The brown & green lines are shorter in the afternoon until about 3pm.
- There are many paths from here that are underground or above pedways. Great for cold or rainny days.
- For a breeze while you wait, stand near the wells entrance
- This is Lake Transfer. Change here for Ravenswood, Lake/Dan Ryan and Evanston Express trains. Circa 1990.
- StreetWise_CHIAugust 22, 2012StreetWise vendors are within blocks of this station! Help us end homelessness :)
- It's hard to find from the street as you have to go below ground through one of the surrounding buildings.
- No one rail can kill you, you need to be grounded to to shunt the source, so just don't touch two rails at once :)
- The accommodations are sparse at best. The couches aren't very comfortable and they smell like pee.
