- According to the MTA, this is the tallest subway station in the world. Not sure I believe that - but it's definitely 87.5 feet tall with 138 steps. Always a treat when the escalators break.Upvoted Feb 15
- Scott KleinbergJune 25, 2017The best view in Brooklyn. I'd come here even if you weren't riding a train. I believe it's the highest point on the MTA system.Upvoted Feb 24

- Get off at this station if your going to IKEA in Red Hook, there's a shuttle and the B61 or B57 Buses that takes you there from the station.
- Great views of NYC out the right of a Manhattan bd train between 4th Ave & Smith/9th. See the Statue of Liberty out the right of a Coney Island bd train as it approaches Smith/9th.
- Great views of Governor's Island, the Statue of Liberty, and Downtown Brooklyn, all while riding to work.
- Jeree AndersonMarch 28, 2011Remember that scene in Goodfellas, where Karen was afraid to go into the building? It was filmed right under this bridge! ;-)
- Unobstructed view of statue of liberty from north east side of tracks
- The highest point in the entire MTA subway system - built because nobody wanted to risk tunneling below the Gowanus Canal.
