Wonderful free museum that covers Roman London to the controversial Canary Wharf. Spend at least half a day here. Don't miss Old London Bridge and Victorian Wapping. http://bit.ly/2zDtICl
Fantastic place for families, from the baby friendly facilities to the soft play area. The selection of cakes is worth to mention: gluten free and sugar-laden for those with a sweet tooth like me!
Great educational kids' area including free soft play with some age specific times (check/book online). Small cafe with highchairs and buggy park. 1min walk to West India Quay DLR station with a lift.
This place is a gem. Tucked away in NW corner of Docklands complex, it traces the history of the docks, trade and the people. Busy on-site café but connected to a bar which also serves food.
Hidden gem of London museums. Packed with expositions and interesting information for children and adults. Free entrance, workshops for children and talks for everyone.
Fab museum charting the history of London since the Romans invented the place, 2000 years ago. The river has always been integral to the growth of the city - and this museum tells the complete story!
Like the rest of London's museums - this one is also free and provides a great timeline of the history of the river and the docks - http://www.museumoflondon.org.uk/Docklands/
Superb museum, displaying fascinating history of London's docks in an interesting and informative way. Beautiful old building in the heart of docklands - with very good access, especially given age.
This fascinating museum is located in an old Georgian sugar warehouse, and tells the 2,000 year story of London’s river, port and people. It also houses the archives of the Port of London Authority.
Housed in a 19th-century warehouse (itself a Grade I-listed building), this huge museum explores the complex history of London's docklands and the river over two millennia. Read more
Free museum with plenty to see about London and the Docklands. My favourite bit is it the children's area, Mudlarks, with a soft play area for children under a metre (just under 4 or so) and the rest
Get to know the history of the River Thames and Docklands and their role in the development of London through migration and trade from Roman settlement, through to the recent regeneration.
Free entry (not £5, that's just a suggested donation). Get your tickets for the kids section on entry and make sure you do a singing tour through Sailortown (lights that look like candles)
One of those little talked of gems. A great muli-sensory experience with a fascinating insight into London's docks, the slave trade and commercial shipping. Finishes of with a bit about the docklands
This free museum covers the history of the River Thames and the Docklands from Roman times to the modern day! Go for a cup of tea at the adjoining Rum & Sugar afterwards.
On the second Friday of every month you can watch a great film in their Grade 1 listed Georgian warehouse, with intros from writers, directors, critics and fans. Read more
Have an NFC enabled smartphone? Unlock vouchers, learn more about London's rich history and check in on foursquare by tapping the Nokia tags around the museum.
This place is very extensive, so give yourself more than 4 hours to explore... I'm going to have to go back as we didn't finish yesterday - got as far as the Blitz section.
From Roman settlement to the regeneration of Canary Wharf, the Museum of London Docklands reveals the long history of the capital as a port through stories of trade, migration and commerce.
