- Hannah ParvazJanuary 22, 2017An early 1900s hyper cute one screen cinema. They have cheap Mondays and lots of snacks to buy there.
- Ricardo Sanchez-SaezDecember 16, 2014Classic local cinema. Cosy and interesting building. Screen and sound quality is not amazing, but worth it for supporting local business. They play one main movie every week, and some single sessions.
- £6 screenings on Monday will definitely drive you in the ancient Kingsland Empire cinema – now one of the last independent cinemas in town.
- Chris PotterMarch 20, 2013I absolutely love the retro theme for this cinema, with plenty of seats, a great view of the screen from any vantage. Grab a wine/beer/coffee and settle in for a show!
- Isa SierraMay 21, 2016Favourite cinema in East London. An institution, playing indie films that are hard to find anywhere else.
- Steven GutierrezJanuary 31, 2012Great local cinema featuring regular special events and guests. The best seats are downstairs but upstairs is fine. Try and book tickets in advance!
- Love the Rio, great cinema with a lineup that never fails to offer something for everyone. Look out for the late night specials.

- Nico ROctober 15, 2014Local indie cinema. One of the only cinemas around actually. Make sure to be here early.
- Book tickets online so that you can just pop into your reserved seat 15 minutes after the nominal showtime and miss most of the adverts!
- Ralph JonesNovember 11, 2018It's got a nice charm about it, but the seats are v. uncomfortable (maybe just for taller folk) and the sound quality is low.
- Sef AmaApril 11, 2012Great for cosy nights at the cinema with a special someone or Friends for that matter. :)
- Charlie Don't SurfJune 16, 2014Queues for the food and drink move very, *very* slowly. Give yourself plenty of time before the film starts.
- Simon Burke-KennedyMay 23, 2010Good indie cinema to watch good indie (as well as blockbuster) films. You can even have a beer... Read more
- Great art house cinema I saw Gasper Noh's Enter the void here last week. Wow!
- Get the £20 membership, pays for itself very quickly.
- Simone StumpfOctober 23, 2010Great membership deal: 12 months/ £20, 2 free tickets when you join, £1 off normal ticket price.
- Chris StackFebruary 20, 2011I could accept an old-school cinema with bad sound & bad projection if it was cheap. But 9 quid!? And the projector broke so we had to leave before the film had started.
