the group dinners and bar outings are a good way to meet travelers from around the world, and are a good deal compared to other dinner options in north beach

A super friendly and welcoming hostel in a great location when getting around SF. The dorms, ranging from 3 to 8 beds, are comfy and clean. The rooms quiet when not looking out onto the main road.

Great place to stay! Friendly and local staff, clean, loads of activities, sauna, pool table, free dinner, breakfast, wifi and more, we stayed in the annex building in the private rooms, nice place!

common room has pool table, kitchen, vending machine, lockers, wifi, and lots of seating and hangout spaces for either socializing or getting some personal time

Free fi-wi, friendly, free breakfast (oatmeal, eggs, yogurt, fruits, jams, peanut butter). Free vegetarian dinner 3 times in week with life music. Special offers (bikes, excursions). Clean enough

They do a pub crawl to 5 bars, which is a good way to make friends. You need to pay $5 and you get 5 drink coupons for the bars. You get the drink for $ 2.50. which is a good deal.

A real hostel with a sense of community that makes it easy and fun to meet people and discover the city! They have a lot of rules about this and that, but it adds to the "flavor".

Go to the beer olympics on friday nights. Its held right across the street. Great mix of hostelers and locals. $2 PBRs. Bring your A game and you could win a paper medal and plastic trophy.

Good and clean budget hostel with good atmosphere, complimentary breakfast and activities. Well located, but some rooms are very very noisy by night - surrounded by bars and nightclubs...

The best place to stay! Close to everything and very nice people. They have things to do everyday. Great place to meet people! Stay here, you won't regret it!

The best hostel! Gotta lov Gaucho's kitchen! Delicious breakfast and dinners! Hostel has nice decor, is cosi, clean, and hás great people workin there!

A fun well priced hostel. Lots of perks like free breakfast and a dinner once a week. Friendly staff etc. Good location.

One of the best places I've ever stayed! Definitely take advantage of all the free meals and activities. Hang out in the ballroom at night and make some friends! You wont regret it.

In the evening, buy some beer (and a few extra to share) from the shop a few doors down and exchange stories in the dinning area with the other guests.
