Not to be missed! One of my favorite places in Rome. Many cool frescoes in the lower levels, including the first example of written Italian (rather than Latin).

Nice visit. 10 euros to get down to the excavations. Very cool catacombs and Christian/Pagan frescos. Spring river is at the lowest floor.

Watch out for the beggars outside the entrance - they are wearing black clothes and are very pushy in trying to make you pay. We didn't, but many others did. Otherwise, great place, great church.

The Basilica of San Clemente is a triple-decker affair with a Mithraic temple at its lowest level and the deliciously ghoulish human bone decorations of the Capuchin Crypt on Via Veneto.

Imperdible. Tres iglesias en una. Excavaciones descubrieron una iglesia del s.III debajo de la principal. Y debajo de esta, una pre cristina del s.I ac. Muy cerca del coliseo.

un bellissimo viaggio nel tempo attraverso i 3 strati della basilica. vale la pena pagare il biglietto di 5 euro per accedere agli scavi ai livelli inferiori.
