Correction: local university students cap the statue in a traditional but fun ceremony at 6pm on April 30th (on the eve of May Day). Festivities usually start around 5pm. It IS spectacular! 🎉🎉🎉

Havis Amanda was removed for restoration works on May 3rd, 2023. The statue and the fountain base will return "back to business" around Summer 2024.

Havis Amanda on kuvanveistäjä Ville Vallgrenin Pariisissa vuonna 1906 muovailema pronssipatsas ja suihkulähde Helsingissä Kauppatorin laidalla. Alkuperäiseltä nimeltään se on Merenneito. Patsas symboloi merestä nousevaa Helsinkiä.
