Initially the exhibit was named "Syonan Gallery". Following a brouhaha, the name was then changed to remove the "Syonan" reference, the historical Imperial Japanese name for occupied Singapore.

“Surviving the Japanese Occupation: War and its Legacies” is the permanent exhibit currently housed in the historic landmark building, the Former Ford Factory.

The factory is the site of the historic surrender of the British to the Japanese on 15 February 1942, at the end of the Battle of Singapore in World War II.

After all the voices against the naming of "Syonan Gallery", they decided to use back the original name, "Former Ford Factory". The exhibition is FREE to all Singaporean/PR, while foreigners pay $3.

The exhibition is free for Singaporeans and Permanent Residents. If you are neither, fret not. The admission fee is a mere $3.
