Very beautiful museum. As a future neurosurgeon I found a lot of interesting things that helped me to better understand the human body and its pathologies especially the nervous system.

Preserved bodies displaying exotic diseases and other conditions do appear in the collections. There’s plenty more to see, like historical artifacts on vaccinations and wartime medicine. Read more

Absolutely one of the best kept secrets in the DC area. You might expect a medical freak show, but this is a well-curated museum. A personal favorite.

An Osteotome (forerunner to the medical chainsaw), the box has slides of President Grant's cancerous larynx, that is the 12th thoracic and 1st and 2nd lumbar of President Garfield with a bullet wound.

This is a great little museum with a ton of very fascinating info. Takes an hour or two to see the whole thing.

Very weird stuff. Bullet fragment and skull bits from Lincoln's assassination. Lots of Civil War bones and amputation saws, gruesome stuff. Lots of bizarre organs in jars. Not sure why it's a museum a Read more
