Rue Daguerre, not far from Place Denfert-Rochereau in Paris, is a pedestrian street with a daily market for food and wine, with cafés and scores of take-away outlets. Café Daguerre is the best choice.

The waiters are surly as hell but the Boeuf Bourguignon is the best I've ever tasted.
Breakfast is good value and speedy service. Lunch is good if you stay with salad. I do not like the steak frites they serve. Do NOT order late lunch. Chef gone. They will serve reheated fries. Brrk
