If you have a MUNI fast pass (paper or Clipper card) you can use that on cable cars as well as cash.

During commuting times in tourist season even this cable car line may be slightly congested.
The California line is down for a complete overhaul until June 2011. Take the Powell street line unless you want to ride a shuttle bus through a construction zone.
Etiquette: you can fit 7 ppl per side on the bench, and no, your nordys bag and purse does not count as a person!

This is the best spot to take a cable car to Fisherman's Wharf.

Steph IrwinMay 27, 2012Don't get on at this stop- its super packed. Instead walk 4 blocks to china town.- They're old, wooden and don't have tires (the ones that do are fake tourist traps.) And they are never, ever called trolleys. (Trolleys have overhead wires.) These are cable cars.
Watch out for cars! They don't always stop for people getting off, have seen some close calls in my day...
I ride this line a lot. Stalking made easy for all MB fan girls.
