There is a great energy here, fall into the paintings with an easy eye and breath, they know the nature of reality, the borders dissolve and the purple envelopes, just as the façade of what we see

The Rothko Chapel is a must in Houston, even if you can only stop by for a few minutes. It's in an interesting neighborhood and you should definitely walk around the chapel and explore.

This place is quiet enough that I can hear my heart beating in my ears. It goes from meditative to unnerving really fast.

The neighborhood it's so weird and quiet. The chapel is between houses. The paintings are so great, the place inside it's really relaxing and calm.

An art chapel that feels like a real place of worship. A fantastic place to meditate or write.

There are 12 black rectangles around the walls, and 3 stones in front of one wall. I didn't measure the proportions on the rectangles, but they seemed 4 x 3.

    The skylight is divided into 12 parts, like a clock face, and the frame around it into 8 parts, like a compass. These are all factored into the first 4 natural numbers: 1 x 2 x 4 = 8, 1 x 3 x 4 = 12.

This is a good place to reflect. Nice little place. They wouldn’t allow photos inside, though.

Contemplation and action are Rothko Chapel’s dual vocations and the program offerings reflect both. Have you tried one of the noon-time meditations?
