- It's a nice well kept zoo with a variety of animals. They also have their own aquarium. They are also adding on for an island section. I have been to several zoos and this one is the best.
- MattJune 27, 2016Well worth the money, tons to see and do, my favorites were the flamingos, penguins, and elephants. Get a orange crush icee on your way out, super tasty on a hot day.
- Lilith FuryDecember 27, 2016Watching the baby elephant get a bath is beyond precious. I also really love the fact there is a petting zoo within the zoo, as it made my son incredibly happy to play with the goats (his favourite)
- Get here early around opening times or later in the afternoon or you'll regret it, especially on free admission days!
- Carolina RevillaJuly 4, 2017The zoo is on a hill therefore the easiest thing to do is to take the tram around the zoo. It's only $2 per person. When you get to the zoo there's an elevator, no need to hike up
- Doug RayMay 28, 2013The Penguins in the Aquarium are fans of the Penguins in the Arena. Historically, the Zoo would loan the local hockey team a Penguin, but it didn't always work out so well.
- Amanda ChangurisAugust 9, 2014A great value for a day of exploration and fun. Splurge and spend the extra $10 to get a photo with an elephant!
- Lydia SchmittelJuly 11, 2013If you have small kids grab a membership, always pack your lunches and you can spend hours here several times a month for relatively inexpensive educational amusement.
- Sean MillerApril 24, 2021We really enjoyed our time at the zoo. Most of the animals were out and the weather was perfect.
- Nikolai May YdeJune 17, 2016I really liked how the zoo was built directly into the forest and hillside. It felt much more "natural" than a regular zoo.
- Joseph PrattJune 6, 2018I will be going to the Pittsburgh Zoo and PPG Aquarium with my relatives on June 15th. I went to the zoo many times whenever I was younger ... and I haven't been there in several years.
- Amanda GriffinMay 1, 2014I am from Cleveland and drive out to PA for zoo trips! My husband, daughter and I love it!
- Chhaya KhatriAugust 1, 2016Worth taking the van ride in $2 per person. Otherwise its too much walk and may get tired on sunny days.
- Daniel CrumNovember 22, 2018Although Pittsburgh itself is a charming town, the Zoo is not. It’s tragically small compared to other nearby zoos: Cleveland, Cincinnati, Columbus, & etc. It’s also WAAAY too small for the crowds.
- Jess BurnettJune 29, 2013Penguins, polar bear, & elephants were pretty much the only animals out walking around. Penguins were great! Otherwise kind of disappointed :/, try Cleveland zoo, I like it better
- Heather TrautmanJuly 6, 2013I love the sand play area that they made! Shady and cool for the adults, and lots of fun for the kids!!
- Joe HenkelsAugust 14, 2020Great place to bring the kids. Annual pass is recommended if you have a family.
- Andrew PotterDecember 15, 2012I come here every year for my birthday! It's seriously one of my favorite places ever! Love the sting rays and the otters!
- Antonio MaxieMay 25, 2012Don't be suprised if all the animals aren't up and moveing. They get tired too. But walk around twice! Also, get your walking shoes on enjoy
- Danielle KoserJune 18, 2013I do NOT recommend Safari restaurant, tables & condiment station are filthy. In addition, thw staff stands around eating and talking when they could b cleaning the HUGE puddle in the seating area.
- The new viewing area for the giraffes and zebras is really excellent
- AngelaAugust 2, 2013Strange set up but I've been spoiled by the National Zoo. Favorite exhibit would HAVE to be the red panda!!!! Love them!!
- Amanda Gribble WilsonJanuary 26, 2012Loads of fun, and easy for kids to manage. Don't miss checking out their QR codes. Enjoy!
- Danielle RhinelanderAugust 17, 2013Awesome zoo! By far the best I've been too. We love African Wild Dogs & the tigers!
- Painting with a TwistJune 21, 2013Fun place to visit with lots for the family to see. The polar bear exhibit is "cool" when he finally decides to take a swim. ;)
- ratedx_gaming TSeptember 21, 2013Really big zoo but easy to get around. Loved the Komodo Dragon's and Red Panda's!
- Kate SAugust 5, 2010Go early! Like right when it opens, it is less crowded and you will get to see 90% of the animals awake before it gets really hot
- Rebecca PaulMay 14, 2011Great place to take very young kids... My son loves the aquarium as a baby b/c of all the pretty colors.
- The Asian Lantern Festival runs August through October
- Patrick WhippleAugust 18, 2011I just wish they had more bears. Polar bears are awesome but they need other types of bears
- At the sea lion underwater window in Kids' Kingdom, take a quarter and slide it along the bench. See what happens!
- Eva KerschbaumerApril 14, 2010What great weather. Took the little guy (7 year-old Kristian) to the zoo on Sunday and it was fantastic. Really great that Pittsburgh has such nice zoo. Scott says it is so much better than when he wa
- Brandon WhiteSeptember 15, 2011Go here during later hours near park closing and you can do everything... Almost like your own park
- Rob M.September 4, 2010I have been here at least a dozen times during the week. Today I went on a Saturday and I swear more animals were out and about.
- Ben SteinerAugust 16, 2014Not the greatest zoo in the world. Monkey House is interesting enough. PPG Aquarium is ok but nothing to write home about. $2 ticket discount if purchased @ Giant Eagle.
- Mary LangerJune 25, 2014Skip the bear as quickly as possible. It is going crazy locked up in there. It was peeing itself. Wish the zoo would let it be free.
- Anita ConnerAugust 29, 2016I think I had myself boosted up "for nothing" 🤔🙄.. Waste of my time.. The gift shoppe was more exciting to me than anything.. Never again.. When I come to PA ..😏🤗😎
