Porridge. Local's fave is Hong Kee #02-89. Short menu, generous portions. Popular for fish head porridge. Not listed is century egg & cuttlefish. During peak hours, expect to wait a bit
TingJanuary 7, 2015Do not miss the traditional dessert stall Xi Le Ting (喜乐亭). Aunty,although looks stern serves up 4 delectable local soupbased hot desserts. Love the 大麦粥 and Cheng Tng. Hard to beat.- Traditional desserts: Xi Le Ting #02-70 is run by an elderly lady, who prepares & serves ONLY 4 warm items: cheng tng, red bean soup, green bean soup, & tua bek (white oats). Simple & nostalgic :-)
- Roasted chicken rice. Henry’s Chicken Rice #02-84 sees long queues during lunchtime. Roasted skin was tasty & fragrant, meat was relatively moist. Served with a bowl of soup. This plate $2.50
Jonathan LimNovember 16, 2014Traditional hong kong style porridge @Hong Kee. Porridge known for being cheap & good with generous amount of ingredients. Order a side of yee sang to go with your porridge too. Yummy !
- Jess ThiaOctober 7, 2016Na Na Homemade Curry #02-72, Opening hours: Mon-Fri opens lunch time till 6.30pm or earlier / Sat opens half day. I like delicious spicy and shiok generous portion of Curry Fish Meat (with bones).
- Braised duck ($4, braised egg +$0.80). Chinatown Ah Po Braised Duck #02-95 serves their plate with a sprinkle of sesame oil. Meat was lean, could be juicier. Gravy was thick & flavourful
- Dumpling noodles. Enjoyed a bowl from Man Tian Xiang #02-96. Clean flavours. Chewy noodles. Freshly made pork dumplings. Simple pleasures. $4

- Wantan noodles: It's final: Hao Hao #02-83 is d tastier WTM than Jian Kang #02-77. Noodles r more q, wantan succulent. Jian Kang's char siew is nicer, but overall package, incl d mid-air flip, won it!
- Kaya toast breakfast set. Unimpressed with the offering from 101 coffee stall #02-101. Kaya tasted processed. Kopi tasted diluted despite ordering (& confirming) 'di lok' (espresso)
- Sugarcane juice. Refreshing on hot days. Find this from Fresh Juice Corner #02-79. This cup $1.50

Must try! Fish slice (鱼生）porridge, fish belly/head porridge, century egg lean meat, freshest Yu-Sheng at a super value price! U'll definitely come back again like I did for more than 10yrs!- Ban mian. Thick savoury soup from David's Laksa & Mee Siam #02-81. Generous with vege too👍🏼

Coocci Contemporary Japanese (stall #02-92) is extremely yummy and affordable Jap food! Ask for the daily specials.

- Vegetarian kway chap. Looking for a plant-based option? Opp Kian Meng Kway Chap is Jia Yuan #02-88. Average-tasting $3.50
- Excellent chicken rice by Henry's. Pork porridge with century egg is reasonably priced too & is chockful with ingredients. Good yong tau foo stall as well.

- Roasted meats: Seng Kee #02-78 sold me d toughest char siew & roast duck ever. The meat were too hard to even chew! :-(
- ATM: OCBC & POSB ATMs in the middle of the wet market on he ground floor. There's an AXS terminal too
Carrot cake good. Other than that the drink stall aunties are really goddamn kiasu- Very cosy hawker with old neighbourhood feel. Look out for Hong kee porridge and old school dessert soup stalls.
y hMarch 26, 2015Jian Kang noodles wantan mee. qq noodles, even if you dabao, with nice noodle flavour. charsiew is flavourful, not dry. wantan is decent.
- There's a POSB ATM & an AXS machine (to pay bills, perform gov transactions, etc) on level 1 where the wet market is

#02-95, 洋葱猪肉饭best!! & bee garden #02-78, ice mango pomelo best!!! Nice nice nice "thumb up"!!- Try this porridge! Best in town! Been having it for 10 yrs now... Good as ever!
Alex TeoJanuary 17, 2011Try the mango pomelo sago, durian pengat & cheng tng from Bee Garden Desserts- The char siew & roast pork rice at #02-93 is really good. The Western food at #02-80 is affordable & good :)

Farnie Fun funNovember 13, 2012Bee Garden Dessert Stall... Try at your own risk.. Not worth half the price I paid.. In fact, I finished only 20%.. Bad bad bad.. Saved by Channel U.. But going straight back into obscurity- The wanton quite nice. :) the stall owner are friendly too.
There's nothing special with Henry's Chicken Rice and the owner got attitude too! I'll never patronise this stall anymore, never!!!
