Muzeum hlavního města Prahy bylo založeno v roce 1881. Jeho současná budova byla postavena v letech 1896−1898. Nejvyhledávanějším exponátem muzea a světovým unikátem je Langweilův model Prahy z let 1826−1837, detailní papírové zpracování historického jádra města na ploše 20m2.
